Wasn't that their last threat... and the one before? ;)
No fear, just keeping a watchful eye and ear... and preparing in case of anything.
Tips we have been given:
Never let your car have less than half a tank of gas. You never know if you will have to evacuate due to weather, natural disaster or terrorism.
Always keep lots of water, a warm blanket and pillow in your car. You never know if you will get trapped somewhere. (It's also helpful to get those special sleeping bags that keep in warmth)
Keep food items in the back of your car that do not stale, such as power bars, granola and the like... trade it out as things begin to expire.
Have a plan, and plenty of maps. You will need the kind that show all alternate routes including small country roads. These are expensive, but well worth it in case of tornado, hurricane or other natural disaster (and in the event of terrorism).
Have a plan - in fact three or four. One north, one to the east and one to the west, and one to the south (unless you live at the coast or near it)..
Have people you can check in with, and let your family know who they are and how to reach them.
Have cash on hand somewhere you can get to it (in the house, in the car or your wallet). You never know if you won't be able to use a credit card or ATM in case of emergency. Hide spare cash well.
Just the things I can remember off the top of my head from disaster preparedness classes...

Those are all good points that we all need to do as a bare minimum.
