During coffee hour, Father Mark pulled my friend Kevin and I aside and asked if we were 100% sure we wanted to be catechumens. We both said we had no doubt about it.
Kevin and I both had the catechism and exorcism prayers read over us and officially became catechumens. Sunday we begin the classes.
Holy Saint John Chrysostom, pray to God for us.
Glory to God!

Already have. Not sure if he'll show up soon or not, he's about to head to Chicago for a week or two, maybe when he comes back. He sure loves Ancient Faith Radio, though. ;)
RighteousJuliana, can I use this quote:
he Orthodox Church is evangelical, but not Protestant. It is orthodox, but not Jewish. It is catholic, but not Roman. It isn't non-denominational - it is pre-denominational. It has believed, taught, preserved, defended and died for the Faith of the Apostles since the Day of Pentecost 2000 years ago.
In my signature also? :)

By the way, did you ask for Father John Chrysaostom's intercession because he is going to be your Patron Saint? If so, just so you know, today will be your Saint Day! I'm going to make a Thread in honour of him. I always forget my saint day (I know, I am bad) and I was looking at the calendar yesterday (looking for when the fast starts) and noticed that Father Chrysostom's Day is today!
God bless!

Yes! Father Mark, Kevin and I all asked his intercession and venerated his icon.
because he is going to be your Patron Saint
Father Mark called us by our birth names, not Saint names, because he figures it's too early to be sure of who our Patrons are. He's told us both to find our own Patrons, and I don't know if Saint John Chrysostom will be mine or not. I was leaning more towards Saint Isaac of Syria.
If so, just so you know, today will be your Saint Day! I'm going to make a Thread in honour of him. I always forget my saint day (I know, I am bad) and I was looking at the calendar yesterday (looking for when the fast starts) and noticed that Father Chrysostom's Day is today!

Thanks for the heads up either way, though. I just checked out your thread, then Don's thread and noticed you missed it somehow. Oh well. Two can never hurt.
Hey, while we're at it, Holy Saint John our Father among the Saints, pray to God for us for all that's profitable unto our souls.
Thanks again.

Thank you very much. Remember me in your prayers if it's laid upon your heart to do so, Eusebios.

Your time is coming! I was very surprised, this seems kind of fast, but you won't hear me complaining. ;)

Ah, this is WONDERFUL news. I am so happy for you BlakeMichael (and happy for us, too!).
The road ahead may be bumpy...remember that the evil one would love nothing better than to yank you off track. But press on and don't pay him any attention. Fix your eyes on the One who gives you life.
Glory to God!
