Hello all!
I am relatively new to L.A. and have been attending various churches. I am looking for a *large* church where I can meet lots of friendly people and get involved in some ministries, particularly missionaries. I am historically Baptist, but am open to similar Protestant denominations. Can anyone recommend any churches in this area?
Thank you,

Hey,
I'm not Baptist, but I go to school in Los Angeles and have for 4 years so while I don't go to a Baptist or Protestant church, I have friends that do. If you want, please PM me and give me a bit more specific on your area (as LA is such a HUGE city) and maybe a bit more specifics of what you'd like (ie. LA has a lot of ethnicly oriented churches, etc) and I can ask around and probably give you some suggestions of places you might check out.

I went to church with my cousins who live in Burbank about a year ago. They went to this church (It wasn't in Burbank though, but Porter Ranch). It's a VERY big church actually, non denominational I believe. Definitely a "mega-church" It wasn't really my cup of tea personally, but I know my cousins REALLY enjoy it. I didn't DISlike it necissarily, it's just probably not the church I would choose (I'm not really a mega-church fan) if I lived there myself (but maybe, it's not like I wouldn't consider it, or that I wouldn't go again with my cousins. . One thing that kind of bothered me though was the fact that my husband was "locked out" because he went to the bathroom during the opening songs, and when he came back they had already closed the doors and wouldn't let him back in (instead he was directed to an "overflow roon where he was supposed to watch the service broadcast on TV. Needless to say, he chose to go outside and buy some organic fruit from some farmers out there). I know they do have a pretty big kids program if you have kids. It might be worth checking out.
