read an article about it and they studied them singing a gospel song and speaking in tongues.

What's funny is the researchers reaction.

Awesome results!

Praise God. He is even proven to speak through us in a scientific study. I would like to see the study done on a one thousand people, then the skeptics might become believers.

Not all that far off--afterall, he's a Christian researcher (Dr. Andrew Newberg).

Good point. At least when the study is conducted on a thousand people that are fairly well representative of the population of tongue-speaking believers, a more accurate result can be shown (rather than on 4 women, one of whom was the co-researcher). In that regard, and in light of scientific scrutiny, you probably WOULD see more skeptics believing.

I wonder if they'd get the same results if they tested voodoo witch doctors in Africa while they did their incoherant babbling.

They oughta hit up some Satanists too and see what they'd find.

Its interesting to me that many religions "speak in tongues," and it looks quite the same to what Pentacostals do.

WesW- Yes it "looks". The enemy can speak in tongues too - the real evidence is being a fruit inspector. Do the fruit reproduce life or death? This is how you tell if its the Holy Spirit or is it dancing with demons.

Neurology is something Ive unfortunatly been way too much involved in the last couple of years (My wife had major surgery last year, but she is doing much better, owe all that to above:crossrc:)

Ive always suspected of something going on in the mind in the speaking in tongues, but unless you are able to do a some kind of scan there's no way of knowing.

I was a bit surprised by the results, I will have to pass them on to a former neurologist I know who does sleep studies currently....
