View Full Version : Just realizing that I am a fundamentalist...

I grew up Pentecostal, married a Mormon who together with me switched to Southern Baptist, he left me 2 weeks ago and is divorcing me and has gone back to the Mormon church, and me? Well... I am realizing that I "claim nothing but JEsus Christ and the work of the Cross". Our 4 children have been raised SOuthern Baptist but we are realizing together that denomination doesn't really matter as long as we are seeking truth and following fast after our Savior.
Just thought I'd pop in and say "HI" to you all.
So HI!

I will pray for your family, and husband, that he repents, and returns to his family, and leaves that mormon apostacy.
I have seen the damage divorce does, firsthand, and do not wish it on anyone.

OK Chris 747, now you've got me confused. On another thread you say you don't have a home yet.

I have to say too that it has been so refreshing to know that there is a GROUP of people who really truly try to live by the Bible ALONE. I mean, in my family they say they are christians, they walk the aisle, tithe, etc. but??? when I try to explain headcovering or teaching my children at home (only when asked you see - I do not try to make converts lol) I get these blank stares, or the ever-popluar "that was cultural and doesn't apply now". Makes me want to pull my hair out.
It's not tough people. Lets's just READ the Word and DO what it says. Golly....

Excuse me? ARe you being sarcastic? I do NOT speak in church, I DO wear a headcovering, and I have not read that I have to leave welts and brusies on my children in order to discipline them. What is up with this???

If I were not wearing my asbestos overcoat, I might have blisters from standing next to that comment. Shall apologies be offered?
Oh, and my wife and daughters do put something on their heads as an acknowledged sign that they are subservient to male only authority at Church. As we don't frequent a Charismatic group, none of us speak during services, wether at my wife's RC or my PCA group. And as to physical discipline, yeah, sure, though not because of Proverbs (I'm a dispy, the OT dosen't apply, as Paul states).
But what I find really flamy is this "proud fundi" bit.
I am NOT "holier than thee." Whereas at times our nature creeps up on us, I am most certain that psalm66 does not, in her better moments, thinks of herself as a "proud fundi."
It is YOU who display pride, and think yourself holier than psalm66.
You may thank me for holding the mirror anytime now, BlackSabb...

ouch.... I don't know what to say. I was not "proudly professing my fundamentalism". I was just sharing a blessing I feel at having found a church home and now an online group that understands and accepts the Word of God, from cover to cover, as the LITERAL Word of God. WE don't all agree, but there is grace for each other as we follow the Scripture as well as we possibly can.
And as for the whelps and bruises. I am SO angry at that comment I can barely formulate a response. I use corporal punishment in our home as a last resort and I have NEVER left a mark on my child. NEVER. EVER. And if that precludes me from being a "true fundamentalist" then so be it.
I don't understand your insistence at being offensive, dogmatic and judgemental of my position. I really don't. I can only assume that you have some ax to grind and my neck is one of your first practice shots to see if it's sharp enough.
