Hello Everyone. :wave:
I'm so excited to let you know that our Christian Forums Welcome Committee is here, and ready for you. Erwin made the announcement (http://www.christianforums.com/t4098047-official-cf-welcoming-angels.html) today, and I am here to get things rolling. So let's get started! :)
First an explanation:
Who are the CF Angels?
The CF Welcome Committee are a group composed of both moderators and regular posters here on Christian Forums.
I (http://www.christianforums.com/~adiya) am the Chief Welcoming Angel.
Meh (http://www.christianforums.com/~meh) has agreed to be the CF Welcome Angel Treasurer. She'll be using our new CFBlessingAngel (http://www.christianforums.com/~cfblessingangel) to take donations for our Welcome Committee. Donations are made with blessings. These blessings will be used for various purposes, to include blessing newbies.
We'll also have 8 CF Welcome Angel Team Coordinators, and 21 CF Welcoming Angels (2 of whom will have the special titles of "CF Welcome Angel's Creative Graphics Developers")
What do the CF Angel's do?
The CF Welcome Committee work together to make new CF posters feel welcome, by doing the following:
1. Posting a welcome in their new intro topics and welcome new folks to the angel's designated areas (ie: if you see somebody new in your area, say hello... send a PM, maybe post something in their guestbook)
2. Posting something nice in their guestbook
3. Befriend the Lost, lonely, hurting.
4. Bless the good samaritan's
5. Offer to explain the inner workings of Christian Forums (ie: where to begin, how many posts it takes to send a PM, how to use the CB, etc.)
6. Inviting new posters to topics that are relevant to their interests.
7. Help posters who post a question about how to do something on the forums, or who ask for help on the ChatBox.
8. Help to keep CF safe, and fun, for every poster (participate in topic discussions in your area, and you can report trolls, or posts that are clear rule breakers [obscenity])
Who do we need on the CF Welcome Committee?
1. We need one moderator from Theology (Miracle_Storm is our new CF Welcome Angel's Theology Team Coordinator) and two regulars who spend a great deal of time in the theology forums.
2. We need one moderator from Friendship Forums (AngelDove97 is our new CF Welcome Angel's Friendship Team Coordinator), and two regulars who spend a great deal of time in the friendship forums.
3. We need one moderator from Outreach (SpudGrandma is our new CF Welcome Angel's Outreach Team Coordinator), and two regulars who spend a great deal of time in outreach forums.
4. We need one moderator from Debate, (Saleucami (he changed his name from Defender77) is our new CF Welcome Angel's Debate Team Coordinator) and three regulars who spend a great deal of time in the debate forums.
5. We need a moderator from Ecumenical [congregation areas] (ErinWilcox is our new CF Welcome Angel's Ecumenical Team Coordinator), and two regulars who spend a great deal of time in congregation areas.
6. We need one moderator from Ministry (Glorianna is our new CF Welcome Angel's Ministry Team Coordinator), and two regulars who spend a great deal of time in the ministry forums.
7. We need one moderator from Support (BlakeMichael is our new CF Welcome Angel's Support Team Coordinator), and two regulars who spend a great deal of time in the support forums.
8. We need one moderator from Recovery (Steffi is our new CF Welcome Angel's Recovery Team Coordinator) and two regulars who spend a great deal of time in the recovery forums.
9. Three regulars who spend a great deal of time in Christian Teen Forum and the ChatBox. (age 13-18), who will be reporting directly to myself, and/or BlakeMichael in my absence.
10. I will be choosing two more regulars, who will help to create special graphics, and other fun things, which all of us can use in guestbooks, etc, along with all of their normal duties as CF Welcome Angels. I'll be talking more about that later. These two creative Welcoming Angels will have to be good with animation programs. They'll have special titles (CF Welcome Angel's Creative Graphics Developers) and you'll know who they are, because their title will be in their signature).
So in total, I would like to have 8 Coordinators (Moderators), and 22 (and 1 apprentice angel) regulars on the CF Welcome Committee.
How long will you be on the Welcome Committee?
We cycle every 4 months. That gives more people a chance to participate and there is less chance of burn-out. Moderators have the opportunity to stay on the Welcome Committee, if there is no other moderator from their area that wants to be on the Committee at the 4 months cycling.
Can I get back on the Welcome Committee if I've been on it before?
Yes. As long as you have skipped one cycle, you're welcome to reapply.
How do I apply?
You must have 500 posts and you must have been a CF member for 4 months. You must be 13+years of age. Yes, that's right, CF Angels can be 13 years old and above. Also, please see #9 under the "who do we need" question. We're making 3 spots specifically for teen posters. :)
Send a PM to me (Adiya) with "Welcome Committee Application" in the title. If you're a moderator, simply let me know that you want to be on the team. If you're a regular poster, tell me which area of the forums you tend to frequent the most often.
Once chosen, I will add the welcoming angel to your profile. I would also like you to add the title "Welcoming Angel - ____ Area" to your signature and/or custom user title. You would add Friendship, Support, Debate, Outreach, etc. to the _____. Do not use TEAM, as that is reserved for the moderators. Thanks.
Do I have to be a specific denomination and/or religion to be a CF Welcome Angel?
It goes without saying that the CF Angel regulars from Theology, Ecumenical, and Ministry, must be Christians, and must adhere to the Nicene Creed and the Trinitarian nature of God. The CF Angel regulars from the debate sections are not required to be Christians. In other words, we will accept applications from Christians, Muslims, Mormons, Hindu's, Atheist's, etc., for the Welcoming Committee too, but only for the debate section. The rest of our Welcoming Angel's will be Christians.
If I have infractions, can I be on the Welcoming Committee?
You must not have had an infraction within the last 60 days. You must not have more than one infraction in the last 4 months.You must not have been banned during the last year. If you become a member of the Welcoming Committee and you receive an infraction during that time you will be removed from the Welcoming Committee. If you are on the Welcoming Committee and you receive 2 or more warnings, you will be put on probation, and removed after the third warning.
Is a CF Welcome Angel allowed to perform my duties only in my section?
No, you are allowed to welcome members in all sections, and converse with members in all sections, but you are responsible for your section. Note: If you should see someone post an introduction topic (not a post in another thread, but an entire topic dedicated to introducing themselves) in any other area but New Member Intro's (http://www.christianforums.com/f124-new-member-intros.html), you should report that and ask that it be moved to the appropriate area.
What if a CF Welcome Angel spots a problem in their area?
If you have a problem, or a situation in your area that requires attention, first PM the CF Angel Coordinator that has been assigned to your section. They'll take it from there. If they need my help, they'll let me know.
Should a CF Welcome Angel stop spammers and/or trollers?
Do not post in a spam thread. Do not speak authoritatively to a spammer or troller. What you can do, as a member of the Welcoming Committee, is keep an eye out for spammers and trollers. That's a part of your job. When you see one (either in a post, or in the CB) report it immediately. Identify yourself as a CF Welcome Angel, and state the problem. A moderator will be along shortly to take care of things.
