:holy: Hello I am trying to start a new Youth Group in a Non-denominational church! Well their belief is Full Gospel! Anyway I need as much information and help as I can get. I have no clue what I am getting into, but I know the Lord has called me to do it. This church has 1 teenage boy in it and thats all. There is no budget set up for a youth program because there are no youth. The Senior pastor asked me to start one up and he would help all he could but that I would have to recrute the teens myself and do fundraisers to start a budget up for the youth. Anyone here have any ideas of how to start one with no youth in the church AND NO MONEY TO START WITH?

Gather people around you that have a heart for youth.
Come up with an exciting youth group format that truly ministers to today's teens, ministers NOT just entertains - key would be to be more person centred rather than program centred. If people feel a sense of acceptance and worth, no matter what the group, the chances are they will come and be committed to it. Be friends, mentors and minister with and to the kids
Make up flyers, canvass the area, recruit kids - start from there.
First and foremost, commit it to the Lord and PRAY for guidance and wisdom! ;)

The only advice I have, is that whatever you win them with, is what you win them to. In other words if you go the "relevant" route and use skateboarders or current Christian artists at a benefit concert, let's say, then the youths will always expect such a performance or that type of youth group meeting. If you fail to provide it on a fairly regular basis, they will grow bored and leave.
The focus should be Christ-centered and Christ-focused. I wouldn't worry so much about focusing on them and what they feel. That happens alot in youth groups all over the country, especially in a non-denominational setting because, and this is only my experience as a former volunteer in a non-denom church's youth program talking here, the church itself tends to be wishy-washy. They focus so much on the kids feeling good and making Jesus their personal friend, that they miss the whole issue of why people need a savior in the first place; because they have broken God's law. Also what age group will you be dealing with? That will be important in deciding which activities to pursue with the group and also what things you can do to attract kids to your group.
