I can best remember Scripture by writing it down as I read it, then reciting it.

Do it a little bit at a time. Don't bite off more than you can chew.

Pretty soon that little bit will add up to a lot.

Through repetition. Regular study of the scriptures ensures that they will become embedded in your memory. Also, I find that reflection on what has already been read is when the most insight is gained. That and when you actually experience what you've just read about.

Flashcards - I know it sounds remedial but they work - make some up that will fit in your pocket and pull them out during the day whenever you have a minute, at work, in traffic, etc.

Songs.
I remember music best.
Years ago I had some scripture tapes by integrity music that were good. My old tape player destroyed many of them.
Some of our hymns and young peoples songs have scripture in them and I like that.
My son was in Upward Basketball and they had a cd of scripture songs, but the songs had other things besides just the verse, so it was confusing for him to use that to memorize the verses - it is best if the song is only the verses.
I also sometimes make up a song to a verse to help learn it.
Then, when I have learned scripture through singing it, the Lord will often bring it back to me when I need it as a song. :)

Foreign language. I've found I can remember verses better verbatim when they're in Spanish and German. If I ever need to share the verse in English to somebody, I can just translate it. I hope to be able to memorize an entire gospel using this method, as it seems pretty effective.

I take it a line at a time. Not a verse, a line.

Blessed is the man
Who walks not in the
counsel of the ungodly
Nor stands in the path of
sinners.

Memorize the first part. Then, when you start to memorize the second part, say the first part with it. Repeat the first two parts with the third line when you get to it. So on and so forth.

It's tedious, but it works. I once memorized Psalm 1 (NIV) in about half an hour doing that.

How do you do it?I can't. But it not protocol for us to memorize verses and numbers. BUT it required to remember the MEANINGS of the doctrines and to USE them.....THIS is how we grow.....we USE them in our lives, now this is growth.

I'm thinking of buying a Binding Word bracelet and using their system for memorization of scripture. To learn more you can go to www.bindingword.com (http://www.bindingword.com) or .org I forget which one it is to learn more.

What I did was make a list of verses from A-Z, each verse beginning with a letter of the alphabet. Then my family went over the verses from the beginning each dinner time. Once we memorized one, we would go on to the next. When we got five memorized, we would go over them several times in a row until we got all five perfectly. Then we went on the next verse. After a little more than a year, we got all 26 verses. This is when my son was only 7! It helps when you have more than one person doing it with you on a regular basis.

Read a passage and meditate on it. Read and re-read it and pray and ask God to write it on your heart.
