Have you ever noticed how Spiritual Inspiration is right at your fingertips in the most unusual places if you just realize it ?

Here is the abbreviated story

Years ago, I was on a kick of attending the Latin mass at an afternoon service, simply put one of the most beautiful things I have ever seen in my life. I arrived a few minutes before it started and noticed what appeared to be a beggar, a homeless man at the sidewalk outside the car. I told my wife "Ignore that guy"
Turns out he wanted to know if I knew what time the LAtin Mass started.

Jesus would have not had the attitude I did.

WELL the homily was about how God loves everyone, even the poorest homeless most wrestched people. even Beggars are loved by God just as much as he loves You (or me)
and as such, it is not for us to judge or pass judgement on others
A double dose of Humble Pie for my soul, but I will say well deserved.

Last night, I watched Walk the Line . a film about Johnny Cash. There is a scene where he is going to play a concert in a prison and his manager tries to dissuade him by telling him " A lot of your fans are Christian People who will not approve of you trying to cheer up prisoners" to which he replies, and I must say, he is right "Well, then, they aren't really Christians"

Man .... it made me think of the event outside the Mass all those years ago. Here is this guy, on a bicycle, looked like he hadn;t had a bath in a week and looked like he probably lived on the streets, and maybe he did, but my response was "Oh that guy is not worthy of my time"

What would Jessus have done? he would have taken him by the hand, prayed for him and walked right into the church along side of him with his head high and said "Look this is my Brother!" or something like that ....

Honestly, that is something I would never forget but if I could actually follow and live by what was said, well, I 'd be better off

Wouldn't we all ?

In reply to your question, "Wouldn't we all?"...I say absolutely yes! I also watched that movie "Walk The Line" and there were some great messages in it. What you mentioned being one of them.

There are so many Scriptures in which we see this very theme. A few examples:

Luke 6:20
Matthew 5:6
Mark 10:31

If you notice many times, it is those people who have the most who do not hunger and thirst after God. It is those persons who have suffered, are poor, and are down hearted that are the richest because of who they are in God and how close they have made themselves to Him. I am not suggesting that everyone who is "rich" with the things of this world are not close to God, but simply stating that my experience has been that the less you have; the richer you are in and through Christ. I do believe with all my heart that He wishes to see us blessed in abundance in all aspects of life, but it is often far too easy to begin to "worship" those things and forget who the Giver of those things really is. What a dangerous place to be at in thinking.

God bless. This was a very good post you made.

I am glad you have God in your heart. God Bless you. You have learned a Great, Great lesson. I was once one of the homeless. There was a church not far from where I slept at night and they repeatedly called the police on me for sleeping there in an orchard. This was many years ago. I hope they have drawn as near to God as you have

That's a lesson everyone needs to learn. All too often we look at those that are downtrodden, and dismiss them as though they were litter. A "famous" homeless man in my town is often ignored and thrown out of places like McDonalds, but once you get to know him he's one of the smartest people in the town. An old country song("What If He's An Angel") has the same message. we never know how much good we might do by answering a poor person's question, or giving them that dollar in change from you're morning coffee. Thanks for the post, in hopes more people realize that lesson. God bless.

Thanks for the post. Great message there.

Kind of like a real, down to earth, mini-sermon. Right on the money, and we should all take that message to heart.
