Well, we finally had a sit down and discussion meeting on the various books, etc that the leadership at the Vineyard wanted formed into an official discipleship program (if you remember I had asked about books/programs for new believers). It all went well and a few of my suggestions were included in the "core" discipleship curriculum.

However, very unexpectedly - the leadership who where present - the pastor, asst. pastor and pastor's wife asked what class I'd like to teach (it's mostly the leadership who teach - so I was honored just by that) - and then the pastor's wife asked instead of teaching a class - if I would consider taking over the "Celebrate Recovery" program - which is like AA or NA but based on the beatitudes and solidly Christian. My work schedule only allows me to be free every other week and when I informed her of that - she as like - "oh, that will be fine..we feel like you'd be the perfect person for this"

So here I am, excited - and nervous! Excited b/c I haven't been in ministry for a while and I've been missing it. Nervous b/c this is one of the two main programs of getting new folks into the church - ALPHA is the other(and taught by the asst. pastor). I just hope this is God's will for me! I will be teaching/counseling drug addicts, alchoholics, victims of abuse, etc - the "rough" crowd according to the leadership. Some are even sent here by the local court system.

Please please pray for me everyone! I need an increase in faith, compassion, discernment, knowledge and any other area that is required for this to be a success!!

I will keep all of you updated!

peace and all good.aaron

Aaron, this sounds like a wonderful opportunity for you, serving people in such a needed ministry. I am sure it will be challenging; make use of all the support resources you can. I will pray for you, for those things which you have asked for in your post. Looking forward to hearing about the ways you see God at work in this ministry!

Yes, Aaron, do keep us updated. How wonderful and it IS exciting. You'll do fine...you have your heart in it.

My prayers for continued guidance from above and the peace of God to continue as you face the newness and this challenge.

Hey higgs..thanks!..No I haven't started b/c the holidays will make it too complicated. I will be starting in January. I have about a dozen folks interested already and a few have volunteered to be leaders/mentors...so it's in the works! Thanks for thinking about me and your continued prayers are much welcome!
