Has anyone read "The Stripping of the Altars: Traditional Religion in England, 1400-1580" by Eamon Duffy? Haven't found any informative reviews of it. Do see his "Saints and Sinners: A history of the Popes" is rated high for scholarship at Amazon but his bias toward liberalism is mentioned.
I'm looking for a straightforward history of pre-reformation England. Any suggestions?
