In this small corner of the communion, today (All Saints) has been designated a day of prayer for rain.

We desparately need some - our dry-land farmers have got virtually a zero crop again this year and are looking at the same again next. The livestock farmers in the Wimmera are having to tanker in water. Our irrigation farmers are looking at severly restricted water this season, meaning reduced crops (after a year of absurdly low prices). Our country towns not on a big river are literally running out of water completely.

So, as we come to the end of All Saints day, could those of you with some of the day still to go include a prayer for rain for us.

Many thanks.

I'll ask my P.P if we can add it to the prayers of the people tonight.

Priest: In the name of the Father , the Son, and the Holy Ghost.
People: Amen.

Priest: Pourforth, we beseech thee, rain from the heavens, being that same such water as thou hath created on the 3rd day.
People: Amen.

Priest: Drop down ye heavens from above,
People: And let the skies pour forth righteousness:
Priest: Let the heavens open,
People: And bring forth rain in abundance
Priest: The heavens declare the glory of God:
People: And the firmament sheweth his handy-work.

Priest: Glory be to theFather, and to the Son, and to the Holy Ghost.
People: As it was in the beginning, it is now now and ever, and unto ages of ages, Amen

There is a day of prayer for rain this Sunday too.

We are an irrigating town - our dam is at less than 15% capacity, and our farmers will probably get no water this year. They have planted accordingly.

This will mean that we are likely to lose our assistant minister - his income is effectively from the harvest of that crop.

Our congregation are very generous (2000 people in town - both our church and the presbyterian support 2 ministers, and quite a number of missionaries), but they cannot give what they do not have.
