Thank you.
I'll be spending tonight at a church "Fall Festival," which is really a Halloween party but they don't have the courage to call it that. I'll be dressed as a chef.

NOW THAT is a cool costume!!!! Everybody loves a chef
The Kids and I will be Pirates. We will make it to one of those "fall festivals" where they don't have the courage to call it halloween. But that is not the only thing we do.
Take the kids to trick or treat at a mall or fire station or maybe a local grocery store; that is safer than going door to door and our experience has been that they get less candy and more treats; as in stickers, books, etc things devoid of sugar
Much safer
AS for calling it Halloween, well, I have friends who are pagans/witches who are so into this. Nothing Evil about it. Remmeber, through the middle ages, it was Christians who persecuted and killed pagans and witches, it was the church who decided that witches were evil and should be killed. It was Not witches themselves that endorsed evil; nor was it witches who sought destruction of Christianity, as the catholic church would like to have claimed. Witches today are generally peaceful, reserved individuals who practice their art for the good of themselves and others as they see it.
You don't hear about pagans bombing abortion clinics or massacring Palestinian refugees or flying airliners into buildings.
I am not sure I agree with all the metaphysics behind it, but it is interesting at least. Unfortunately there will be a lot of hoaxsters at work as well, as usual.
I have a post I am going to make in a few days about hoaxing in regards to another area. will you all be so kind to read it and post ?
Thanks
You people are WONDERFUL!!!

Happy Halloween to you too!
We are stopping by a house church around the corner who is having a hotdog cook out for our neighborhood. I want to show support to them. I think it is a great idea.
We are also trick or treating afterward.

I grew up in a community where the schools had big Halloween carnivals and it was great, INNOCENT, fun. When we moved to a small, conservative town just before our kids were school age I was horrified to find that the schools ignored the holiday and the churches condemned it. We had our own parties, and they were innocent fun, too, and didn't
"turn anyone to satanism".
I think very, very often evil is in the eye of the beholder.

I thought he was a fallen angel, so Satin was born on earth ? When did this happen.
Or were you lying about that ? (no, you wouldn't lie would you ?)

Oh joy, one of the most spiritually dangerous, commecialised days of the year and people are celebrating it and par-taking in it.
I don't think you realise what halloween is about:
The Pagans celebrated Halloween as samhian "End of Summer", a pastoral and agricultural fire festival or feast, when the dead revisited the mortal world
So, yeah Halloween is about the dead & evil sprits running riot. Not about innocennt fun, or dressing up, or having parties.
It may not turn people to Satanism or witchcraft, it's origins are still dark.

"Halloween can be traced to ancient times, when some pagans set aside a day to commemorate the end of summer. The spirits of dead people returned to earth at this time, they believed, taking the forms of cats and witches and the like. Fearful that these spirits might do them harm, people attempted to scare them away by building fires and displaying pictures of grotesque faces. They would also place food offerings at their doors, hoping that any visiting spirits would take the treat and forget the trick. Our lighted carved pumpkins, masks, and trick-or-treat rituals have their origins in these practices."
There is no reason to celebrate halloween. Go to a fall festival at the church and have fun. But celebrate halloween???

Helpful hint for all who find their faith wavering and their minds becoming unclear...draw aside and spend time in the word for yourself and with God in prayer. Halloween is just another day to me I don't celebrate the dead because I walk among the living.

What is the difference between a Fall Festival and Halloween in your opinion? I'm not talking about the Celtic festival of Samhain from which Halloween was derived, but Halloween as we know it in this country every year. What are the differences as you see them?

So it was pagan before the church kind of hijacked it to All Hallow's Eve before All Saints day. Before I became Christian I was basically pagan myself. I've changed- so has the holiday. If I celebrate it as fall and harvest and a time for a good scare (and the jack 'o lanterns and such were to scare away evil, not attract it) then where is the harm?

Good question. I can only speak from my churchs' viewpoint. Games, candy, fellowship and music. As for celtic festivals im not sure I can speak on that.
God bless.
