Just wanted to mention a modern Saint, Bl. Mother Maria Skobtsova.

At the Last Judgment I will not be asked whether I satisfactorily practiced asceticism, nor how many prostrations and bows I have made before the holy table. I will be asked whether I fed the hungry, clothed the naked, visited the sick and the prisoner in jail. That is all I will be asked. (in T. Stratton Smith, Rebel Nun, Springfield IL: Templegate, 1965, p. 135.)

Anyone else find a modern Saint that you would like to share?

I have a quick question. How does the Orthodox Church canonize someone as a saint? Is this the Patriarch of Constantinople's responsibility or is a council called? Thanks.

Pope Kyrollos VI will be cannonized as soon as the required 50 years has passed since his departure in 1971. Thousands of miracles have been worked through his intercessions, and he has appeard to many people.  Not the best site, but it's what I found after a quick search: http://www.kyrillos.com/

Each Church cannonizes their own saints.

This site has rm movies of saints (needs highspeed, gets choppy during peak hours): http://tasbeha.org/video/
Of the 7 movies, 4 are about people from the 20th century: Pope Kyrollos VI, Abouna Abdel Maseh, The Visitor from Heaven, The Mother of the Needy. I liked the first 2, the second 2 were a little slower paced. they're all Arabic with English subtitles.

I just wanted to mention Blessed Olinka (http://oholy.net/BloIndex.html). She reposed in 1979. As a modern saint that has not yet been officially glorified.
