Our session tonight is on some of the nuts and bolts of celebrating the Liturgy, paragraphs 1135-1209 of the CCC. Anyone else going through this program? Which part of the CCC are you on?

We are doing during Lent; it's pretty basic stuff
which i'm skeptical about how well it'll teach the
faith. Also, small groups are driven by their leader
and often they do not know the Catholic faith well
or worse are actually dissenters.

you have 2 hands , 10 fingers , 2 basic messages .
1. faith , hope, love , Jesus , crucified and risen
2. what can I do better, differently , or change in me to be more like Him ^

1 big problem though, He's God, we're not.
It takes everything we can learn from the Bible
and the Church to follow Christ fully.

Ellen, what specifically are you looking for about the Sacred Liturgy? I've gone through the CCC before, but it wouldn't hurt me to find out again. If you can your hands on the videos by Fr. John Korapi and watch them, he does an excellent series of lectures on the CCC.

This is an old thread! I'd have to look back into my books to see what we were working on that night. The basis of the program is that it is a "journey through the Catechism," so you cover various topics week by week. We did 6 weeks in Advent & 6 in Lent for the past session.

OK. I thought that you were studying the Catechism of the Catholic Church from cover to cover. I did that a couple of years ago, but I need to re-read what was in it b/c it was so intense. We had a Chaplain, a Redemptorist priest, who was there with us.

Between a new job & pregnancy since I posted this thread, I don't have the brainpower left to go through the Catechism cover to cover! ^_^
The "Why Catholic" program goes for a few years, though, I think - I know I missed the first round & actually started during the 2nd one, which covered new topics.

Personally, my recommendation is that
you do not nit - pick over triffials . . .
The Latin Rite Roman Catholic Church is
ethical and that, truly, is everything you
need to know . . .
