I wanted to ask the more experienced pet rescuers some questions.
First, how do you make your adoptable pet known? I put a thread in the main forum and said something in my blog. But I'm not sure what else to do for Buddy. Are there any other effective ways of letting people know about him?
Second, I'm confused about adopting out a pet. I can't bless someone with a pet, right? So when someone wants to adopt Buddy, do I just make sure we're online at the same time...then put him in the adoption center so they can adopt him?
How much should I charge for the adoption fee? What questions do I need to ask a potential adopter?
Thanks!

I needed to get red feather adopted i put him up for a low rate and he went in 10 minutes flat
I put him up for 100 blessings
If you want to gift the pet....be sure u r online at the same time.....send the blessings to the person and then put up the pet for adoption

I recommend adopting rescued pets for 200-400 blessings. Less than a new pet, and less than the default. If you think someone who can't afford that much will make a good and responsible pet owner, it's ok to adopt them out for much less -- just be careful. Many times in the past we've had people adopt a pet from a rescuer for a low price, and then put it back out for adoption for as much as 1000 or 2000 blessings.

yes...that's StinkyPete :sigh: he's still there but I don't think anyone will adopt the poor pet at that price so he'll die in kill night :sigh: wish there was a limit to price :(
I had the first pet I ever found an owner for given to someone else by that person and put back up then for 1000...the pet died

1) you can also advertise the pet in the pet parade (here (http://www.christianforums.com/showthread.php?p=24094952#post24094952)) just have a look through the first pages and see if Lily has a post there...then you can go and edit that one every time you have a new pet
2) I either try to be sure the person is online at the same time with me and then arrange the adoption through pm...so that they know I'm gonna but the pet into adoption center so they can get it straight away....has worked very well so far...
or I send the person an amount of 1000-2000 blessings and put the pet up for adoption at this ammount plus the price we agreed on...this way the pet will stay in adoption center till the person can come online and get the pet...and when the person gets it I get my blessings back....is a good idea if someone lives in a completly other timezone and you never mae it online at the same time....
as for the prize I normally give the pets away for as much as the person is willing to give me for the pet....
just make sure that the person can afford to keep the pet (I tell them it's around 50 blessings per week to keep the pet).....
be blessed <><

Stinky Pete? He's one of my pets that I noticed showed up for adoption?? Is it okay for me to contact the person and tell them he will likely be deleted if the price is that high???

the person won't be able to change the price now anyway :( so I don't think that will help :(
at least the pets killed during kill night don't starve to death - they simply vanish into cyber space and whenever you click on their link you will still see the pet smiling :)

I wanted to ask the more experienced pet rescuers some questions.
First, how do you make your adoptable pet known? I put a thread in the main forum and said something in my blog. But I'm not sure what else to do for Buddy. Are there any other effective ways of letting people know about him? Put an ad in your signature. Also mention your pet to anyone you talk to who does not have a pet. Putting your pet up for a very low price usually brings on the members who are just looking to make blessings. Usually a higher price such as 400 blessings-500 blessings shows that the member has enough to support the pet.
You are correct. Right now, there is not a feature where you can bless a pet to a member. But hopefully in the future, there will be one.:D In my past experiences, I just pmed the potential adopter and asked the member when he/she could be online. And then we met at a time that worked for both of us. When both of us were online and ready, I put my pet up for adoption for 450 blessings. Any amount close to 450 blessings would be fine. Some questions to ask would be: "Do you think you have enough blessings to support and nurture the pet? Will you be online at least twice a week? If not twice a week, then you will need to contact a CFPR and they can help you for a designated amount of time. You can also put your pet in day care for a certain amount of time that you need."
After acouple questions, ask the potential adopter if they have any questions. :)
