Just wanted to thank everyone for all their advice. I've been reading back over the old threads and have found so much helpful information that has really reinforced our decision that there's no church for us but the Orthodox Church.

We've been to our second Divine Liturgy, this one at an OCA church. That seems to be the one for us- everything came together very well, but we're going to continue to visit others- at least one Greek and perhaps another OCA (more Albanian than Russian like the one we visited), and a Russian Orthodox. Unfortunately, the other jurisidiction are a bit beyond my driving range/abilities, and with a husband who's bound to be deployed abroad soon, we have to stay within my travel limits.

Thanks again!

Yes, God bless and all the best!
You should talk to Khaleas. She also has to deal with deployments.

Hey there Skoi,
Don't know where you're located but there are Orthodox churches in random places that are sometimes a bit hard to find. Try to see if you can talk to a priest at one of the parishes you visit (one with email :) ) and see if he can guide you from a distance while your husband is gone and it might be too far for you to drive. Even if it seems far for every weekend, you should try to make big feasts like Nativity and Pascha.
I'm really fresh when it comes to deployments. Don't have much under my belt and our situation is so odd now. My husband is Navy and flies, but they don't have a boat right now so he's going out for 3-4 months elsewhere. Lots of fun last minute changes... but it's not like that's anything new.
Take care and I'm sure we'll be here to try to answer questions you may have.

I'm glad that you've decided to figure out how to make it work. While my husband is not deployed, he does travel and work odd hours. It is sometimes hard to get in to see Father with husband schedule, but it's always worth it.

May God grant you strength and courage in your inquiry and the time to come.

Welcome! May God bless and keep you! While being Orthodox is never easy, it most assuredly is worth it!

God bless.
