Just curious... There are no Orthodox churches in my town to visit so I will be visiting other towns/cities to get to one.
Just curious how far you drive...

Less than a mile.

About 20 minutes (about 15 miles) on the freeway from home on a Sunday morning. It takes almost an hour (probably 20 miles) on the freeway from the office on Wednesday evenings. But that's Dallas for you.

I drive about 30 miles, although there is a church that is a few minutes from my house. I don't really mind the drive most of the time, as I usually stop on the way home from church and visit my mother. It is rough for morning Liturgies as I am not a morning person and getting up an extra half hour early can be rough.

I was driving about 30 to 45 minutes one way. A new mission started about 15 minutes away now where we attend with everyone's blessing.
We live close to the "big city" though...

On a Sunday, it takes about 20 minutes. During evening rush hour, about 45-60min. There are people at my church that drive at least an hour every Sunday, even when there are closer churches to them.

For us, its about a 30 minute drive on Sunday mornings. There are members of our mission who drive over an hour, however.

It takes us probably 20 minutes to drive, and probably wouldn't take that much longer to walk, because although it's only a few miles, we have to battle the Most Ridiculously Busy Intersection in the Universe to get there.
We also attend a mission (with both priests' blessing and encouragement) about 80 miles from us, because the priest is an old friend and the music situation there needs all the help it can get.

15 minutes to get to my regular parish. I converted there because I had consistent transportation to get there, so that's where I belong.
There's an Orthodox church that's actually just down the street from where I live, within walking distance, but it's too far to manage in very hot or very cold weather, so I go there only if we're not having services at my regular parish.

The nearest parish to me is about 90 minutes away. A new mission is going in soon, and it will only be 60-75 minutes away. :sigh:

My priest would make us do a prostration (yes, in the confessional area - so everybody could see us) if we broke any traffic laws. Besides our subdeacon was the LAX police chief.
Obeying the speed limit it takes us from 30 to 35 minutes to arrive at our church on a Sunday morning, but it takes us about 45 minutes to an hour to arrive for a weekday Divine Liturgy (whether we take local roads or the freeway) unless there is an accident. Incidentally, that rarely happens. It seems like God is protecting us. If we take local roads on Sunday, then it takes 45 minutes.

For me it takes anout 30 minutes, much of it on the motorway. There are no Orthodox churches in my town, or anywhere closer for that matter, though we do have several different ones to choose from in about the 30 - 45 minute range. There are some in my parish, though, who drive much further. Some, including our priest, come from near Birmingham (about 110 miles) and we even have one family who drive down from southern Scotland every so often because we are the only Romanian parish north of London. I'm very lucky to be so close.

OOOOOOOOOOOOH James - I've been to your Church in London - it has THE most incredible Iconostasis .
I was there for Vespers there one Saturday evening about 2 years ago - and what a wonderful experience it was.

I've never actually been to the church in London, though some of them have come up to Mirfield before, for instance last Pascha quite a few came up to help us sing. Ours is the second newest of the three Romanian parishes in Britain, though I guess we'll be adding more after Romania joins the EU in January. The oldest, obviously, is the one in Fleet Street, then there's Mirfield and now we also have a parish (I think a small mission served from London) in Oxford (which is where my godmother goes).
Despite our minuscule presence in the UK, though, we do have a monastery even if the Romanians tend to be amused by its tiny size. They are used to not being able to travel more than a few miles before stumbling across a decent sized monastery but I'm unbelievably impressed that we have even a tiny monastery here, given our size. If all the other churches would follow suit, just imagine how many Orthodox monasteries would appear!

Glad to hear of monasticism taking root in England.
p.s. after teaching ESL and beginning Spanish students all day, I get confused with my spelling.

20-25 minutes one way (by car).
A monestary is closer to me by a about five minutes but I prefer my parish for weekly attending.
We have people who drive 45-50 minutes one way not only on Sundays but they come Saturday eve then Sunday and often on extra work days, etc.

15-20 minutes by foot. There are of course two churches within five minutes walking distance. Countless churches within an hour range. Also, there are about 4 monasteries in an hour range.
Living in Greece certainly have its advantages ;)
Take this post as an exercise for your christian patience :P
