Ok, since I'm still an inquirer at this time, I'm not asking for anyone to pray specifically for me and my family but I would really appreciate if someone could direct me to a good prayer for the following situation.
My husband was laid off from his job back in June. In the time since then, he's put in, I know, at least 75 applications and resumes trying to find employment and he's come up empty handed most every time. We've gone through our savings, maxed out all of our credit cards, borrowed from any friend who had the heart to lend... and we are now coming to the end of the road. I know we are not to worry, that God will and does provide but it's looking more and more like the homeless shelter is going to be our next step. So anyway, I'm looking for a prayer. Can anyone help?

O God, our help and assistance, who art just and merciful, and who heareth the supplications of thy people; look down upon me, a miserable sinner, have mercy upon me, and deliver me from this trouble that besets me, for which, I know, I am deservedly suffering. I acknowledge and believe, O Lord, that all trials of this life are given for our chastisement, when we drift away from thee, and disobey thy commandments; deal not with me after my sins, but according to thy bountiful mercies, for I am the work of thy hands, and thou knowest my weakness. Grant me, I beseech thee, thy divine helping grace, and endow me with patience and strength to endure my tribulations with complete submission to thy Will. Thou knowest my misery and suffering and to thee, my only hope and refuge, I flee for relief and comfort; trusting to thine infinite love and compassion, that in due time, when thou knowest best, thou wilt deliver me from this trouble, and turn my distress into comfort, when I shall rejoice in thy mercy, and exalt and praise thy Holy Name, O Father, Son, and Holy Spirit: now and ever, and unto ages of ages. Amen.

May God bless and keep you and your family close in His bosom at this time.
What part of the country are you in?
What line of work does your husband do?
Perhaps we can do some networking here....

Lord have mercy!
Prayer for the Acceptance of God's Will
By Metropolitan Philaret of Moscow
O Lord, I do not know what to ask of You. You alone know what are my true needs. You love me more than I myself know how to love.
Help me to see my real needs which are concealed from me.
I do not dare to ask either for a cross or for consolation.
I can only wait on You. My heart is open to You.
Visit and help me, for the sake of Your great mercy.
Strike me and heal me; cast me down and raise me up.
I worship in silence Your holy will and Your unsearchable ways.
I offer myself as a sacrifice to You.
I have no other desire than to fulfill Your will.
Teach me to pray. Pray You Yourself in me.
Amen.

You might also seek the intercessions of St. Xenia of St. Petersburg (http://www.slocc.com/orthodoxy/stxenia.shtml) for your husband. She is very well known for helping people find employment. I will also pray for your family for what my feeble prayers are worth.

I'm allergic to snow. It makes me....cold. :)
I don't know the job market there, but here in the south the papers are full of jobs for that vocation...long or short haul.
Continued prayers! :crosseo:

I'll be praying for you too.
If you do end up needing a place to stay, if you can get yourself to the Raphael House in San Francisco, CA, they may be able to help you. They're an Orthodox-run home for families who need to get back on their feet. I truly hope this doesn't happen, but they will be the kindest people if you find yourself needing help.
Also, contact the local Orthodox Church to see if they can offer assistance.

He is working with a company now trying to get a propane business started and once he gets all the pieces of the puzzle put together, it will lead to a very good job. Thanks again for your prayers and assistance.

When we were in a similar situation as yours, I would pray this prayer. Be joyous! God has big plans for you and yours!
God Bless :)

I thought I would give everyone an update. My husband received an email yesterday. He didn't actually get it until today though because we had a whole bunch of running around to do. Anyway, the email was asking him to come to Seattle to interview for this one job. This is definately a step in the right direction. So once again, I want to thank you all for the wonderful prayers.
