How am I supposed to choose which denom is correct?

Who said there is 30,000 denominations maybe the Roman Catholic Church?And even if there is 30,000 denominations that means there are 30,000 groups of christians bringing people to Jesus and that is not a bad thing at all,remember Jesus said ALL who believe in me will be saved.

Diferent denominations have diferent interpretations, if you do not follow the teachings of the apostolic churches such as the catholic church, then your interpretation is just another interpretation like thousands of others, that is why is dificult for anyone to say precisely "how big is a piece of string" only God could tell us how many diferent interpretations of the bible there are out there, i'm sure even you could agree with this statement, the catholic church believes it holds the apostolic succession since the time of Peter, and since you then you can trace back all the Pope that have existed since.

...If anyone has particular issues with the catholic church, i would sugest that you go to the OBOB section and without accusing or insulting anyone, explain that you have a particular problem with "this or that" and find out how did other individuals dealt with it, i'm sure they will be glad to help.
Turning away from the church that Jesus establish because of certain things which individuals have done, does not sound right doctrine to me, if you understand the teachings but still cannot cannot accept it, it sounds more like you may have issues forgiving your neighbour.
Ask yourself does your interpretation contradicts the teachings of the early church father?
Should each denomination(or individual) have a diferent interpretation?
Jesus teaches about this in Mark 3:23-29
23 So Jesus called them and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan? 24 If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. 25 If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. 26 And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end has come. 27 In fact, no one can enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can rob his house. 28 I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. 29 But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin."

Deciding which of the 30,000 is the one that Jesus established, is probaly futile. Jesus didn't establish a denomination, just the church. Anyone who claims a corner on truth may as well claim to be Jesus. Some do.
Some do, but don't admit it even to themselves, out of blindness.
Keep it simple. Choose truth, not a "club' that claims THE Corner on it.

I agree. And I want to add that One denomination isn't "the right one", but that doesn't make it "the wrong one" either. If you're looking for "the best church" you're probably not going to find it, but you might find a good church that you enjoy and where you feel loved, welcome, and accepted just as you are (and if you do, you're incredibley blessed :)). Churches don't own Jesus, and you don't have to go to church to know Jesus. If you feel led to go to church, then by all means go (I do, and I often like ie) but you're probably not going to find any church that's without problems, some just have more problems then others, and often even that can depend on your own point of view.

The answer provided by Simon Peter set in motion the formation of the Catholic Church by Jesus. "You are the Messiah, the Son of the living God." With this answer, Jesus established the Catholic Church with Simon Peter designated the first Pope.
"Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah. For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father. And so I say to you, you are Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church, and the gates of the netherworld shall not prevail against it. I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven."
Many try to imply that it was Peter's faith on which Jesus established the Church. But closer examination of the words of Jesus reveal that the selection was of divine nature.
"For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but my heavenly Father." His knowledge of Jesus was not the reason for Peter's confession to the true identity but it was the fact that it had been revealed to him by God. In the words of Jesus gives Peter his new name - "The Rock". A foundation on which his Church will be built.
Many separated from the Catholic Church cling to the notion that the Church was built on the faith of Peter and not him as a man as justification for their position. Unfortunately, their understanding is incorrect.
2 Timothy 4:3-4
3 For the time will come when men will not put up with sound doctrine. Instead, to suit their own desires, they will gather around them a great number of teachers (diferent denominations/interpretations) to say what their itching ears want to hear. 4 They will turn their ears away from the truth and turn aside to myths.
2 Peter 3:16
16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction (understanding true sound doctrine).
Revelation 12:15
15 Then from his mouth the serpent spewed water like a river(all the false doctrines), to overtake the woman and sweep her away with the torrent.
John 19:34
34 Instead, one of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water (the true source for sound doctrine).
Genesis 3:14-15

I gues that would depend on how you define denominations. The work you are more than likely hearing from had some 825 RCC denoms, and various others and would count an idependant Church as one denom even though one town over an other Chuch belived the extact same thing.
So, That depends on how you define the term.

An Army Chaplain (not catholic) told me there were 30, 000 denoms. I guess I am really trying to find out how you who are also seekers deal with the huge selection. I am not being conservatinve when I say there are at least 100 churchews that I can choose from where I live. I am looking for a church with correct doctrine and correct religion, which I would suppose everyone is looking for.

Are they not in transgression, when they dare to confront that good definition against Arianism, acknowledged, as it is, by those who had in the first instance taught them irreligion? "This gave occasion for an Ecumenical Council, that the feast might be everywhere celebrated on one day, and that the heresy which was springing up might be anathematized. It took place then; and the Syrians submitted, and the Fathers pronounced the Arian heresy to be the forerunner of Antichrist, and drew up a suitable formula against it. And yet in this, many as they are, they ventured on nothing like the proceedings of these three or four men. His words are as follows: And the church of Corinth continued in the true faith until Primus was bishop in Corinth. I conversed with them on my way to Rome, and abode with the Corinthians many days, during which we were mutually refreshed in the true doctrine. And when I had come to Rome I remained a there until Anicetus, whose deacon was Eleutherus. And Anicetus was succeeded by Soter, and he by Eleutherus. I never said that "all" ECF belived the same thing with reguards to the passage in Matt. You have still yet to over come the double standard.
It may in fact be true that "some" ECF seen Peter as the rock as do some non RCC. The point is your view is denied by many ECF.
You really should update you historical basis, beyond some name it claim it fallacy;
The Roman Catholic historian Klaus Schatz comments:
"There appears at the present time to be increasing consensus among Catholic and non-Catholic exegetes regarding the Petrine office in the New Testament….The further question whether there was any notion of an enduring office beyond Peter’s lifetime, if posed in purely historical terms, should probably be answered in the negative. That is, if we ask whether the historical Jesus, in commissioning Peter, expected him to have successors, or whether the author of the Gospel of Matthew, writing after Peter’s death, was aware that Peter and his commission survived in the leaders of the Roman community who succeeded him, the answer in both cases is probably 'no.'…If we ask in addition whether the primitive Church was aware, after Peter’s death, that his authority had passed to the next bishop of Rome, or in other words that the head of the community at Rome was now the successor of Peter, the Church’s rock and hence the subject of the promise in Matthew 16:18-19, the question, put in those terms, must certainly be given a negative answer....Rome did not succeed in maintaining its position against the contrary opinion and praxis of a significant portion of the Church. A survey of early church fathers commentaries shows seventeen Fathers thought of the rock as Peter, forty-four thought it referred to Peter’s confession of faith, sixteen thought Christ himself was the rock, while eight thought that the rock meant all of the Apostles. Thus 80% of these Church Fathers did not recognise ‘the rock’ as meaning Peter alone.

And although to all the apostles, after His resurrection, He gives an equal power, and says, 'As the Father hath sent me, even so send I you: Receive ye the Holy Ghost: Whose soever sins ye remit, they shall be remitted unto him; and whose soever sins ye retain, they shall be retained;' yet, that He might set forth unity, He arranged by His authority the origin of that unity, as beginning from one. You did not answer my question... does that sound Non-Catholic?
Please let give you my interpretation of what it means, then maybe you could give us your interpretation.
As Catholics when we sin we need to go to a priest to confess our sins in order to receive the sacrament of reconciliation. That is what that passage means to us catholics.
Do you have a diferent interpretation of that passage?
I hope and pray that you will find the correct path in your spiritual journey.
