View Full Version : Unfortunate Termonology

I have seen many requests suffer because the requester used a term that was considered contemptable by several others. Are there any suggestions on how to avoid this? Or is it just a process of trial and error--give it a try and if people get mad request it again under a different name?

Put it under a different name, I do think its unfair how some request are denied because people complain about it. if you don't like something don't buy it. Not everyone has the same taste. There are a few things that upset me in armor but i keep quite.

There's some stuff, like Harry Potter stuff, that no matter what name you put it under, will probably never make it into the armory, simply because it's too "controversial." You know the line "A rose by any other name would smell as sweet"? A wizard's robe by any other name would still be a wizard's robe, ya know?

Captain America and I have open inboxes, and we're happy to discuss a request in advance to making it. In some cases it's the language in a request that makes it problematic. In some cases it's the item(s) requested themselves. In some cases, things are declined due to the volume of requests that are made.

We've been accepting more requests than usual the last 2-3 go rounds. Unfortunately, what usually happens has happened. We are getting further behind. The November 1 list just opened today, and we're finishing the August 15 list and starting the September 1 list. Three lists have yet to be reviewed, and 2 are in process. When 50 or 60 requests are made, and we accept 20 or 30 of them, obviously some people will have their requests declined. When only 30 or so requests are made in a go-round, we're able to do most of them.

I was just wondering how many people would throw a fit if I requested something with the word "mercenary" in it...

I don't even know what that means

Basically, it means "Soldier for Hire". I can't say for sure, but I don't think we'd put a name or description with the word "mercenary"
