There are some interesting verses worth discussing. Considering all the contention that can occasionally be found here, I found them to be quite revealing. They are found in 1st Timothy 6, and read:
"If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. But godliness with contentment is great gain."
What do you think the underlying meaning is?

King James
1 Timothy 6:3 If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings
-- New King James
1 Timothy 6:3 If anyone teaches otherwise and does not consent to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness, 4 he is proud, knowing nothing, but is obsessed with disputes and arguments over words, from which come envy, strife, reviling, evil suspicions,
-- American Standard
1 Timothy 6:3 If any man teacheth a different doctrine, and consenteth not to sound words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; 4 he is puffed up, knowing nothing, but doting about questionings and disputes of words, whereof cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
-- Living Bible
1 Timothy 6:3 Some may deny these things, but they are the sound, wholesome teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ and are the foundation for a godly life. 4 Anyone who says anything different is both proud and stupid. He is quibbling over the meaning of Christ's words and stirring up arguments ending in jealousy and anger, which only lead to name-calling, accusations, and evil suspicions.
-- Revised Standard
1 Timothy 6:3 If any one teaches otherwise and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching which accords with godliness, 4 he is puffed up with conceit, he knows nothing; he has a morbid craving for controversy and for disputes about words, which produce envy, dissension, slander, base suspicions,
-- New American Standard
1 Timothy 6:3 If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, 4 he is conceited {and} understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions,
-- New Jerusalem
1 Timothy 6:3 This is what you are to teach and urge. Anyone who teaches anything different and does not keep to the sound teaching which is that of our Lord Jesus Christ, the doctrine which is in accordance with true religion, 4 is proud and has no understanding, but rather a weakness for questioning everything and arguing about words. All that can come of this is jealousy, contention, abuse and evil mistrust;
-- New American
1 Timothy 6:3 Whoever teaches something different and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the religious teaching 4 is conceited, understanding nothing, and has a morbid disposition for arguments and verbal disputes. From these come envy, rivalry, insults, evil suspicions,
-- New Revised Standard
1 Timothy 6:3 Whoever teaches otherwise and does not agree with the sound words of our Lord Jesus Christ and the teaching that is in accordance with godliness, 4 is conceited, understanding nothing, and has a morbid craving for controversy and for disputes about words. From these come envy, dissension, slander, base suspicions
-- Young's Bible
1 Timothy 6:3 if any one be teaching otherwise, and do not consent to sound words - those of our Lord Jesus Christ - and to the teaching according to piety, 4 he is puffed up, knowing nothing, but sick about questions and disputes of words, out of which arise envy, strife, injurious words, evil suspicions,
-- Darby's Bible
1 Timothy 6:3 If any one teach differently, and do not accede to sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the teaching which is according to piety, 4 he is puffed up, knowing nothing, but sick about questions and disputes of words, out of which arise envy, strife, injurious words, evil suspicions
-- Weymouth's New Testament
1 Timothy 6:3 So teach and exhort. If any one is a teacher of any other kind of doctrine, and refuses assent to wholesome instructions - those of our Lord Jesus Christ - and the teaching that harmonizes with true godliness, 4 he is puffed up with pride and has no true knowledge, but is crazy over discussions and controversies about words which give rise to envy, quarrelling, revilings, ill-natured suspicions,
-- Webster's Bible
1 Timothy 6:3 If any man teacheth otherwise, and consenteth not to wholesome words, [even] the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and the doctrine which is according to godliness, 4 He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, from which cometh envy, strife, railings, evil surmisings,
-- New Living Translation
1 Timothy 6:3 Some false teachers may deny these things, but these are the sound, wholesome teachings of the Lord Jesus Christ, and they are the foundation for a godly life. 4 Anyone who teaches anything different is both conceited and ignorant. Such a person has an unhealthy desire to quibble over the meaning of words. This stirs up arguments ending in jealousy, fighting, slander, and evil suspicions.
-- International Standard Version
1 Timothy 6:3 If anyone teaches false doctrine and refuses to agree with the healthy words of our Lord Jesus Christ and godly teaching, 4 he is a conceited person and does not understand anything. He has an unhealthy craving for arguments and debates. This produces jealousy, rivalry, slander, evil suspicions,
-- William's NewTestament
1 Timothy 6:3 If anyone teaches different doctrines and refuses to agree with the wholesome messages of our Lord Jesus Christ, the teaching that is in accordance with true religion, 4 he is a conceited ignoramus<a> with a morbid appetite for discussions and controversies which lead to envy, quarreling, abuse, base suspicions
-- Montgomery New Testament
1 Timothy 6:3 If anyone teaches heterodoxy, and refuses to consent to the wholesome words of the Lord Jesus Christ, and to the teachings of religion ,4 he is puffed up with conceit and knows nothing, but is doting about disputations and a strife of words. These give rise to envy, quarrels, railings, evil suspicions

Lets look back to verse two also. The last part of verse 2 should be included with 3, 4 and 5.
"These are the things you are to teach and urge on them. So we need to know what "These ... things" are. Specifically the teaching in Chapter 5 are specific the object of "These". We can also suggest that all the teaching from Chapter 1 up to this verse are implied to be included. Definitely not to be excluded. Also all the teaching of Jesus so that in a real sense covers all reveled Christians instruction.
The person who is in opposition to any doctrine to the Church as revealed in all the literature to the Church of the Holy Bible. Last words from verse 2 " Teach and preach these {principles.} 3. If anyone advocates a different doctrine and does not agree with sound words, those of our Lord Jesus Christ, and with the doctrine conforming to godliness, 4. he is conceited {and} understands nothing; but he has a morbid interest in controversial questions and disputes about words, out of which arise envy, strife, abusive language, evil suspicions,
5. and constant friction between men of depraved mind and deprived of the truth, who suppose that godliness is a means of gain."
(will be back to finish after watching Dr. Caner on Liberty live)
Got to hear Dr. Caner's testimony. What a blessing. Both of Caner's brothers were save when He preached his first sermon which was about 7 min. long. Later his mom was saved and then his grandmother in her 90 at his brother's church.
He tells that when his brother was baptizing her she had to use a walker in the water and that his brother broke down in tears and she hit him up side the head and told him to finish the job and baptize her. She, if I heard correctly, 92.
I am so glad my God and Savior’s arm is not to short to save the soul of any lost person on this earth. Whosoever will - for God is not willing that any perish. Don't you just love soul winning churches where men, women, boys and girls are coming to Christ often.
God Bless Jerry Falwell's ministries. What a Champion for Christ.

Those verses say that false teachers are troublemakers, and we as Christians should avoid them at all cost.

yes we should avoide false teatchers but exactly how do we know who a false teacher is? i think that we can learn how we react to a false teacher and how to correctly correct him/her without seeming concided and last but not certinetly least hypocritical.
