Why Threaten Isreal?

If the United States and company invade and capture Saddam, why is Iraq threatening an attack against Isreal?

He hopes that doing so would invoke a Jihad that would get fundamentalists and other Islamic nations to back him (instead of sitting neutral as they're currently doing).

Hamas and Hezbollah have already pledged to back him, if they do it could spell very bad things for the U.S. because Hezbollah especially can make Al-Qaeda look like a bunch of amateurs. I expect possibly Hamas and especially Hezbollah to be much more capable than Al-Qaeda of pulling off attacks inside the U.S. Not to mention how devastatingly effective Hezbollah was against the U.S. military back in the 80s.

Though personally I don't expect the real trouble to start until Saddam is gone and all the groups which are pretending to be our allies to take his place start squabbling for leadership with the U.S. caught in the middle. Basically I expect it to be like the Lebanon war all over again.

TY for ur answer, but what is a Jihad? AND is it that they want the land that Isreal lies in ......or what?

"Jihad" means a Muslim Holy War.
Yes, they want Israel for their own.
But God Promised it to His chosen people so I doubt they will succeed.

ty for that site P4I......but one question.......why doesn't the Arab countries accept or want to accept Isreal as a State and why do they want the Jews destroyed?

sklipp: they know even if they will not admit it to themselves or to others that Ismael was not the chosen of God. So long as the children of Isaac live, they have a visible reminder of who God chose.

In the hope that Israel will retaliate and thus bring other arab nations into the conflict so that they ( Arabs ) might destroy Israel , something they have been trying to do sinse 1948 .

Unfortunatly for them God has other plans . ;)

BD, but why do they want Isreal destroyed? WHY do they want these plp dead and gone? The site that P4I gave me explained quite a bit as to the previous wars and what was taken, but never touched the reason that the Arab countries want Isreal gone and that they do not accept them as a state.

Because they want this to be a muslim world. They hate Jews because they think the Jews stole their birth right from Ishmale (sp?) They believe the land that God promised Abraham belongs to them because Ishmale was the first born, not Issac. They hate Christians because we follow the God of Abraham, Issac, and Jacob. The hates us because we recongize the Jews as the choosen people of God.

Reminds me: There used to be an Arab member on this board, his name was Arab4Christ. He is a Born-again Believer and is in full support of Israel. He was an amazing member and touched many people by the way he spoke with grace about such issues. He sorta "diisappeared" and I haven't seen him in months. I would love for him to come back and enlighten us on the Arab-Christian perspective on all of this. He was one of a kind and a true blessing.
