Author: Mark Atteberry

That's the title of this book I'm currently reading and it's great! The author does an excellent job at presenting the truth with an added touch of humor about how we behave ourselves as christains and why the world doesn't take us seriously.

I'll give you the list:

Dumb Move #1: SLINGING MUD ON THE BRIDE OF CHRIST

Dumb Move #2: Winning People to the Church (the actual building with all it's activities) Rather Than To The Lord

Dumb Move #3: Living Below the Level of Our Beliefs

Dumb Move #4: SPEAKING ABOVE THE LEVEL OF OUR KNOWLEDGE! *ahem...cough*

Dumb Move #5: Hopping From Church To Church

Dumb Move #6: FIGHTING AMONG OURSELVES *ahem...cough* ^_^

Dumb Move #7: Missing Golden Opportunities

Dumb Move #8: Settling For Mediocrity

Dumb Move #9: Allowing Wolves To LIve Among The Sheep

And last but not certainly not least:

Dumb Move #10: ACCEPTING THE UNACCEPTABLE *ahem...cough*

I know some reading this may be already getting defensive, but please don't. Let me tell you, I'm guilty of numbers 1, 6, and 10. :sorry:

It's an excellent, gut punching book I think every christain should read. But I strongly believe alot of us are guilty of #1. After reading about it, the author hit directly home about how we treat one another, our church and how we treat God.

And just a reminder: every time we throw mud balls at the church and each other, satan is bowled over with laughter. Why not put a stop to that? I'm going to. :D

Dumb Move #6: FIGHTING AMONG OURSELVES *ahem...cough* Seperation is a biblical doctrine

" 6Let no man deceive you with vain words: for because of these things cometh the wrath of God upon the children of disobedience.
7Be not ye therefore partakers with them.
8For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
9(For the fruit of the Spirit is in all goodness and righteousness and truth;)
10Proving what is acceptable unto the Lord.
11And have no fellowship with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather reprove them.
" (Ephesians 5:6-11)

"Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them" (Roman 16:17).

I will fight for the Truth, God's Truth can't be mixed with error...

What you said is true and I agree, but let me give you some pointers on what the author is talking about (other than staying away from people who believe and teach blantent heresy):

#1: Obey your spiritual leaders

#2: Confront Troublemakers

#3: DISCOURAGE ARGUMENTS

#4: FORGIVE SINNERS AND EACH OTHER!!

#5: Meet Needs

#6: Suppress Legalism

#7: Refute heresy

Do you see the pattern he's pointing out here? Look at the words Obey, Confront, Discourage, FORGIVE, Meet, Suppress and Refute. :)

This is what he means in christians fighting amongst ourselves.

#3: DISCOURAGE ARGUMENTS

I will argue for the Truth.

I will argue for the Truth.

And as a child of the Most High God, it's good of you to stand and defend the Truth!

However, the author is talking more about doing it in a gentle and respectful way and not letting anger or pride get the best of you (not you, directly) and you end up dropping bombs on everyone else, which causes negative words and emotions to arise. If you sense someone in the 'mood' to fight/argue with you and you've done all you can to be gentle and sensible to him/her, then it's best for you to just walk away.

Also, remember Titus 3:9. ;)

Ok?

I will argue for the Truth.

You had better do ALOT more studying before you start arguing for truth.

1 Corinthians 1:27

But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty;

2 Timothy 3:

1This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come.
2For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy,
3Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good,
4Traitors, heady, highminded, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God;
5Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.
6For of this sort are they which creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,
7Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.

You have no basis for what you argue outside of fringe authors who are not respected by anyone outside of their fringe circles, spout off too much, dont know half of what you are saying and only hurt the advancement of the gospel in hte process. More?

Hiya Richard!

It's good that you posted this because it's true. Though it's even better when you include ALL of scripture and not omit certain important words/sentances that provide the scripture (like this one you gave) with the true meaning of it.

What God is sayin in this particular verse and why He does that is so man has no reason to boast in himself.

Also, keep in mind that the world thinks any kind of full reliance on God and the message of the cross as utter foolishness and weakness. Whereas the 'wisdom' and 'strength' of the world is foolishness and weakness to God. Therefore, He uses the weak and foolish (according to the world's standards) to shame those who're proud and self-reliant.

That's what this scripture means. :)
