I think about it at times..those of you that are unchurched post your thoughts and links here.

I think "Unchurched" might not be the best term, since you are being the church (less the trappings) but I guess it fits:scratch:

We have just begun a 40 day fast and are starting to eat together more "formally" now.

Fascinating site

unseen, murdered, emergent--I'm seeing what you've written more clearly than even a few months ago...

For me unchurched was not so much a choice but a state. I found myself unchurched, because of what I term spiritual abuse.

I was an adult convert who had not been raised in the (brick & mortar) "church" as a child.

So as an adult, there was a lot of jargon, that I did not understand. RCC, OSAS, Election, Confirmation, and more. I found
dogma, hypocrites, pharisees and some plain good folk. I did not know what to make of it all in one stew and when I asked questions, I was either perceived as "satan", stupid, told to pray for revelation, or got some plain "i don't know's" to what seemed to me to be simple things.

It just seemed so disenfranchised. I have just in the last 10 years learned to try and be a part of my community church--in sort of a 12-step fashion, "take what you like and leave the rest".

When you skip the child phase--there just does not seem a place for you...Anybody else have this experience?
