CF had some downtime just now for about 30 minutes - we are investigating the cause. Sorry about that!

The techs are making some major database changes so the database server has just been rebooted. Thanks for your patience.

Well, not completely!

CF is running quite slow though.

I'm sure Erwin will have it ship shape soon!

CF is suffering some major server problems at the moment - it's unclear if we are under a DDOS attack or if it's something else. The techs are working at the datacenter trying to troubleshoot this. We've actually changed from Apache back to lighttpd to see if it would help but it didn't. We are looking at changing from FreeBSD over to CentOS at the moment and to a completely new server cluster.

Please be patient while this occurs. This is happening when I'm about to leave work to move house so I won't have broadband for a few days. Thanks for being patient and understanding!

I just couldn't sign on at all for the past two days. In the morning I could but just a bit ago nope, I would click to come into the forums and it wouldn't do nothing, Not a thing.

The problem I thought started when I download the new windows Live Toolbar and so I untill it, now I'm online again so far but it might be your end that is fixing it so I don't know, it is slow hope all is well.

Still having problems with speed here . . but it is better than it has been . .

Also, suddenly, when trying to search own posts, I get a message that says

Sorry - no matches. Please try some different terms.

This happens no matter how I try to access this feature.

Is this part of the server issues? Or is this a bug that needs to be reported in the bug forum?

Actually there still seem to be a lot of problems of various kinds going on around CF, so hopefully we'll hear from Erwin or one of his team soon to let us know how the repair work is going ;)

Wow, Dan signed up! :)

Anyway, Dan's the man for the servers. I think the search slave database server issues is causing the search bugs. Also some weird password problems for staff. I'll look into them myself.

Not only over 1900 does the problem start up. I've noticed it likes to happen in the very early morning too.

Okey dokey - I've fixed up the 3rd webserver which was playing up - Dan (and Steve) I've upgrade Apache to 2.2.x - also reinstalled PHP 5.1.x on all webservers so that it's not in CGI mode - also reinstalled APC on all webservers. Working fine now. Also added the ntpupdate clock sync in crontab for 3rd webserver to sync time.

I've also recalibrated the slave search database and restarted both db servers so now they are in sync again. Let's hope it stays that way!

It's late here (12:31 am) so time to sleep - need to go to work tomorrow! :)

Let me know if there are further problems. My apologies for the past few days of issues.

Erwin- Thank you.
I am so embarrassed for the behavior of some of the people on this board. Please just know it is not the majority. You are appreciated. Not being a computer person, I can't even fathom the time involved in all you do - but I am thankful that you do it.

Dan/Steve - I installed memcached server on the image server and memcache on all webservers - just so you know - working better than APC! :)
