You're probably just kidding, but just a reminder that bashing is not allowed on the forums.

This thread is either a joke or poor decription of fundamentalisim.

Jesus said that a time would come when we would worship in Spirit and in Truth. To a fundamentalists worship in Spirit is to worship God with the help of the indwelling Holy Spirt. "The Truth" comes from God, to a fundamentalist that means the bible is truth. That's it!

Negatives associated with Christian fundamentalisim began when Jesus was hung on a cross. Stephen also felt the result of holding to a fundamentalist view.

This is really nothing to laugh about.

You're right, ElderMike. I'm sorry if I sounded like I was joking about it.

Hmmm. am I a fundamentalist???

I was born and baptised a Catholic, spent 11 years in Catholic schools, was born again after spending 15 years away from the Church, attend a Pentecostal church, have my daughters going to Girls Brigade at a baptist Church, my daughters are attending a Uniting Church school, the main Charity I help involves people that are affiliated with the Russian Orthodox Church......

My belief is that there is one Church consisting of a number of denominations and we should spend more time focusing on our similarities and less time on our differences......

OK WHOA WAIT lemme clear this up lol

this was originally a mark lowry joke hehe. and it goes something like this

"when i was growing up i went to church in a fundamental independant bible beliving preaching teaching king james version using saten hating baptist church" ... at this point ppl thought he was making fun of these type of baptists and i thought so too. i was kinda offended at that point cause thats pretty much what i am lol. but he paused for a second and said "AND IM PROUD OF IT!!!!!" lol.

actually mark lowry was a strict baptist (to say the least) cause he went to church with one of my former pastors when they were both REALLY YOUNG.

to say the least, this was kinda meant to be a humorous yet a serious topic. i for one do go to a fundamental independant king james version using hymm singing baptist church lol. i just wanted to know if anyone else did too.

Everyone is a fundamentalist.

Everyone believes something.
Everyone thinks that what they believe is correct (else they would change what they believe)
Everyone tries to convince others into believing what they believe.

This is everyone.
Atheists are fundamentalists; as are evolutionists, Unitarians, Buddhists...

everyone!

I am ALSO an independent Fundy KJV bible believing christian!
Praise the Lord and shame on the devil!
There are some of you still out there!
HAHAHA
Kjell......
The KJV and the NIV would probally be best if it was in another thread.
It could be a very long topic! But I can tell you this one thing......many many words and verses are left out of the NIV from the manuscripts.
Make a new topic.....and watch the flames! LOL

Some argue that KJV is the only authoritative English translation of the bible. But for me, I think it's just a REALLY good translation =)

btw, it's not like you can use the bible to give a defense for why KJV is the best translation :P

I think I am a historic/fundamentalist:sleep:. Boring, I know, but I enjoy research on Biblical events and their end-time parallels. I believe in following the traditions as passed on to us from Paul and the 12 Disciples to Polycarp, Polycrates, and the other early church fathers before paganism creeped in. I especially enjoy discovering what constitutes false doctrine and its origin. But my main focus is my relationship with my Awesome Creator and those around me.

:confused:What do others mean when they say they are fundamentalist?

I think I may be more of a reformer than anything else. I see how things have changed and I desire to help put them back as they were supposed to be, help others get back on track. I can identify with the 'watchman' position in Ezekiel. From what our Blessed Savior has shown me in His Word I feel called to give warning of the upcoming events. Yes! That old doomsday message hasn't gone away. It can't until the seven last plagues are over and our Redeemer comes in all His splendor.

My study Bible is the NKJV because it is easy reading. But I also revert back to the KJV and I picked up a new version that really helps in my studies of the original words and their meanings. It is called "The Scriptures" and it uses the original names. I really enjoy it.

My most valuable study aid is "Holy Bible Library" CD. It has the KJV along with Strong's Concordance in audio so the Hebrew and Greek are pronounced.

:sigh: Does anyone else here see themselves as a reformer? Its not the most popular position to have. "For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;" 2 Tim. 4:3 (KJV) I have found this prophecy coming true as most don't want to know what is going to happen."For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark," Matthew 24:38 (KJV), but they wouldn't listen.

There are such great and wonderful things to be found in His Word. More than just warnings to the "sinner" there are beautiful love letters from the Heavenly Father to His children. I read through the Bible once with the theme being, "What does this say about our Creator." Powerful way to study the Scriptures.Has anyone else tried that?

It is wonderful TwinCrier that you studied the Scriptures in respect to what it had to say about our Almighty Creator.
