I am methodist and now chairman of our Staff Parish relations committee. I have no problem praying on my own but seem to freeze up when I have to pray aloud.
I have a meeting Wednesday where two of our congregation are going to voice accusations of stealing money at our Youth Director. I believe the accusations are more of a misunderstanding then factual putting $$$ in his pocket but I hav prayed that I can keep an open mind. I want to be able to say a prayer before the meeting that will ask for guidance & wisdom but my mind is a blank. I'd like some help with a prayer that I "read" out loud if I can't say it aloud. is there someone who can help me with this? Thank you.

Wow. That hit a little close to home. I am a Methodist Youth Director who has recently been the topic of SPRC discussions. Nothing quite that serious, but my job will be part-time come the new year. I will pray for you, your youth leader, and SPRC that things don't get too ugly.
And as far as praying out loud, don't worry about the words you say. God doesn't care what words you use, and if someone else does, that is their problem. Just speak from the heart. Remember, the reason that you pray is to talk to God, not to impress others with how eloquently you pray.

Hi larryed,

I often pray something along these lines when I need wisdom:

"Lord, you promised in your word that if anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask of you and you will give it generously, and without reproach. We need your wisdom today. Please lead us in our discussions, and guide us in our direction. In the name of Jesus Christ we pray, Amen."

By the way, the verse where God promises his wisdom and direction is in the first chapter of James.

May God bless you with His wisdom in this difficult area.

-Grace

Wow, thank you both for the words of encouragment. I am very apprehensive about a situation that could literally destroy a young fellow's career. On the flip side. I worry about a young couple who are rather new to their faith and are fragile because of it. Thank you again.

I pray simply. for example at a meal, "Dear God thank you for this food and this day, In Jesus name, Amen."

So you might say in your situation, "Dear God please give us all wisdom, discernment, and compassion, In Jesus name Amen."
