Hello to all. I am a fundie, and have been for 25 years. I'm married and have a daughter.
Anyway I've been prayerfully considering a forum to help ex-gays get the help they want for unwanted same-sex attraction.
This ministry has great opposition by the forces of satan, and it's a spiritual battle. If you want a sampling of the opposition just take a look a the responses I got over at the ethics & morality forum. The stench of hell reeks on that sub-forum:

Anyway, about my ministry. It directly opposes the politicized elements of our health care organizations. I just want to see people get the help they want, and if someone decides they don't want to try change for the Lord, then let some affirming therapist take care of them.
The APA is one of the reasons ex-gays can't get the help they want. Pray for me as I take the next steps. Also, I would appreciate advice on this endeaver.
This is the APA's current position on reparative (conversion) therapy and on Gay/Lesbian issues:

The Therapy of Negligence originates from the APA.
The APA's position on ex-gay therapy IS a position of willful negligence.
Here are some excerpts from the position statement:
Ref 1:
The Board of Trustees of the American Psychiatric Association removed homosexuality from the DSM in 1973 after reviewing evidence that it was not a mental disorder. In 1987, ego-dystonic homosexuality was not included in the DSM-IIIR after a similar review. Ref 1:
The American Psychiatric Association does not currently have a formal position statement on treatments that attempt to change a person's sexual orientation, also known as areparative or conversion therapy. There is an APA 1997 Fact Sheet on Homosexual and Bisexual Issues, which states that there is no published scientific evidence supporting the efficacy of reparative therapy as a treatment to change one’s sexual orientation.Ref 1:
Therefore, the American Psychiatric Association opposes any psychiatric treatment, such as reparative or conversion therapy, which is based upon the assumption that homosexuality per se is a mental disorder or based upon the a priori assumption that the patient should change his or her homosexual orientation. The APA has given the cue that other health care organizations have followed:
Ref 2:
The American Academy of Pediatrics, the American Counseling Association, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Psychological Association, the National Association of School Psychologists, and the National Association of Social Workers, together representing more than 477,000 health and mental health professionals, have all taken the position that homosexuality is not a mental disorder and thus there is no need for a 'cure.'
In summary, there is no "ethical treatment" for something that is "not a disease" according to the APA. However there are people suffering from chronic depression, suicidal thoughts, and dysfunctionality because of their unwanted same-sex attraction. The APA only accepts affirmation as ethical therapy for a condition they find "immutable" merely because they have not done their own homework after 30+ years of STALL TACTICS. That's right, STALL TACTICS, and there is no excuse for it.
Their solution also involves a propaganda machine to force ALL people to accept their point of view through a legislative agenda pandering to the pro-gay community. The APA, through willful negligence, is deliberately killing the clock until the pro-gay political agenda is FULLY IMPLEMENTED.
Ref 1:
The potential risks of reparative therapy are great; including depression, anxiety and self-destructive behavior, since therapist alignment with societal prejudices against homosexuality may reinforce self-hatred already experienced by the patient.
Ref 1:
The validity, efficacy and ethics of clinical attempts to change an individual’s sexual orientation have been challenged. To date, there are no scientifically rigorous outcome studies to determine either the actual efficacy or harm of "reparative" treatments. There is sparse scientific data about selection criteria, risks versus benefits of the treatment, and long-term outcomes of "reparative" therapies. The literature consists of anecdotal reports of individuals who have claimed to change, people who claim that attempts to change were harmful to them, and others who claimed to have changed and then later recanted those claims.
Ref 1:
The political and moral debates surrounding this issue have obscured the scientific data by calling into question the motives and even the character of individuals on both sides of the issue.
The APA claims the risks are great, and then states there is no scientific evidence to back this claim. They have NO DATA by their own admission. They also say our scientific body is incapable of unbiased study. As a member of the science and engineering community I find this position unreasonable, unfounded, and unacceptable for intelligent decision-making.
As a professional body that considers itself authoritative, the APA's claim of ignorance is without excuse just as much as executives that claim ignorance to shenanigans in their company's financial statements. The APA has failed its responsibility to society as a public health care organization that duely advises people in matters of their supposed expertise, whereas they claim none in a pathetic attempt to blame the science community for their own INEPTNESS and IRRESPONSIBLE CONDUCT.
In summary, I believe any reasonable person would find this a position of willful negligence, willful ignorance, and a conflict of professionalism with regard to patient/client relationships. It is unacceptable in a social/political system based on reasoning, ethics, and the freedom of self-determination for the individual.
