Sadly, even the Communist Party is involved.

:D That's my Cypriots.
Seriously don't worry, The two main candidates for Archbishop are very worthy people. It's the laity who pick sides and do all the campaigning and smearing.
Cyprus is one of the few places where the laity actually casts votes to elect the Archbishop, which of course means things get a little more personal between the two sides. Not to mention the Cypriots are even more Hot Under the Collar than the Greeks ;) which makes for a very "interesting" election.
Hey I'm going to Prophesy :D :D :D Once the elections take place there is going to be a protest from the opposition which will turn into a riot. A few cars might be burned a few people will end up in the hospital (Not Unlike what Happens after a soccer game over there). Then the Archbishop will take power, and people will still be angry, but then they will get back to their arguing over card games, and their backgammon and they will forget what happened.
If you really want the scoop I will tell my dad to ask his Uncle (The Village Priest) next time he phones Cyprus.
