How many here have ever been to Willow Creek Church in Barrington, IL?
How many have heard of this ENROMOUS church?
What are you opinions of it if you have attended?
I'll hold my thoughts till later.

I went there one Sunday in 1991. I did not like the service. there was nothing unchrisitan about it but I persoanlly like Calvary Chapel's way of having a service better. Willow Creek was just way to seeker oriented for my tastes. I went but it felt like I really should not of went because it was geared so much to seekers that I did not get anything out of it. I believe that a church cna be seeker friendly but still in the same service teach deep truths to its mature members.
Now I do like their resources. Their small group resources are some of the best around. I also read Becoming a Contagious Christian by Hybels and that was pretty good. So I guess I would say that the church is a good church but not one I would attend.

I'd have to agree with everything Blackhawk said. Felt a bit on the shallow side to me. Nothing wrong with it theologically but I didn't really enjoy my experience (granted, it was only one sunday).

I've never attended a service there ~ way too far away for me! But, we're going to be starting up a small group in our home, following the suggestions of Willow Creek's format. They have a fabulous small groups program. :)
BH ~ I read that book also! Wasn't it good?

Yeah it was a quick read with good pratical things one could do to reach out to friends and love ones around them or even people one meets in a store. If one is looking for a theological treatise on evangelism it is not the book but if one wants a good read that encourages them to fullfill the great commission then I recommend it highly.
Gosh I sond like a robot up there. :D It really was a good book.
