What do yall do while you're not going to church? Visit a different one every week, personal devotions with the family, etc?

That is exactly what I've done in the past. I was lucky when I moved to Dallas, because my friend here was already a member of a great church and I was able to go with him to Christmas Eve services just 4 days after moving here.

In the past, I've visited different churches and just picked the one that seemed like home. Oddly, they've been from different denominiations.

At the moment cause of not sure what town we are going to be living in, am reading ucb,our daily bread and find it brilliant guidance to each day, help with my bible study as well as they point out the verses to each guide of the day.:)

Yes, our family has been visiting a different one (or more!) each week. It has actually been refreshing in an odd way. I've noticed that I've listened more closely to the pastors each week to glean from their messages and it's been nice to have a change each week. I also noticed my son paying more attention to the details of the different youthgroups and the depth of their teachings each week. We do of course plan to find the "right church" for us (hopefuly soon) so that we can be part of the body and minister to others as well as be ministered by, but for the time being, we are growing through the different teachings.

I used to visit more or less regularly all the Christian churches in my home town. Thatīs what finally led me to Orthodoxy. I wasnīt actually even considering to change my church, I was competely satisfied with the Lutheran church, but that just happened.

I visit a new church every third week or so... I still attend with my parents occasionally and on the off weeks I do private devotionals. I'm always reading the bible and doing studies, so it's all just a long learning process and journey for us.

I have always thought it best to visit before joining. For me joining a church is like a marriage of sorts, I am agreeing to a covenant, agreeing to serve and participate and fund this organization. I want to see what they are about, get to know em.

I go to the am, mid-week and night services and participate in what ever activities they have, attend business meetings to see how they conduct business and then decide if I feel led to be a part of it. Even after I join I still try to visit other churches (diff. denominations included). I think it's good for me and for the community and my home church. Keeps me integrated.

The Holy Spirit will guide you to the right church, you need to yield to Him and keep praying. We do this when we travel...

what did Yahshua do when He went to different towns?
what did His disciples do ?
what do the members do today in the ekklesia in tribulation in china and russia and 99 other countries whare the Gospel of Truth is not allowed to be spoken in public or in groups of more than 3 ?
what does what Yahweh breathed in Scripture have to do with what we do in places we visit or live ?

maybe this is apparently too broad for one/this thread; but i think it all boils down to simply living G_d's Life wherever we are, not after our own desires but seeking His.

I believe that we are called to be a part of the body of Christ universal, but live the life of CHrist out in a local body. The scriptures speak of poutting down roots/serving others and that basically comes down to committing to a local church. The trick comes in in finding that local body that will best minister to us and us to it. THe one in other words that God has called us too. The only wy to know that is to either get God to give you a clarion call voice from heaven go to this church type thing, or as most of us will probably have to do, go and visit the various churches in our community and get a feel for them and eventually settle down. I like that some still visit, just to keep connected to the whole body in the area. SOmething I'd never thought of doing myself. *note to self..... keep visiting other churches*

Being a Military faimly, we are face with this alot. Yes, we certainly seek God's direction. I guess my main focus is an awesome youth church. My nine year old has just recieved Christ as Lord. She loves going to church and learnig about the Lord. She tells me that the service that we attend doesn't compare to her Christian school Chapel. So I guess we will be attending her School's church. I believe that God speaks to us through our little ones.

I have been visiting a different church almost every week for about 3 months now. I did go to two different churches 3 times but we couldn't all agree as a family. It is very frustrating.
I liked the church this morning. The pastor had a good idea for his message. He didn't develop it enough though. I like some meat with my milk.:sigh:

As much as I'd like to agree witht hat, the problem a lot of pastors face is the nature of their congregations. Many of them are dealing with babes in Christ who need milk, or who are just plain lazy in developing themselves in Christ beyond just getting milk. Been in that same boat myself.
