Hey ya' all,
just wondering who all plays , what you play,
and what your currently working on music wise.
This is the only forum I visit here (TAW).

I'm a tube amp freak , I've had a few different amps in my lifetime from marshall- to Mesa Boogie..now a Soldano
Decatone:P .(From el84's to 6L6's...Mullards to Telefunkins'..thats Mullards not Mullits L.O.L )

My favorite pedal is a Robert Keeley Moded SD-1 (instant VH /Vai in a pedal)

I'm a floyd rose , dive bombing , harmonic hitting 80's reject...trying to grow up and play accoustic (Taylor 314 CE L7)

I've been working on "When the children cry" (Whitelion version) , "I alone" (Live),
"Hemmorage..in my hands "(Fuel),
"Angie" (The stones), and "Wish you where here" (if you have to ask shame on you..thanks alot AE ^_^ ).

I know.... off topic, but it gives us a chance to see each other in different lights , and get to know each other better so we can encourage one and another.

God Bless , In Christ..Shawners

I play a bit of guitar but I am relly not very good at all. Especially when you consider that I have played for like 17 years - I really should be better than I am. I have a Cordoba classical, a Taylor baby, a whashburn 12 string and an Ibanez electric that is autographed by Reb Beach
http://www.rebbeach.com/gear_gallery/VOY_catalogue.jpg

Yee Haw!

It was signed before I bought it - I just liked the way it felt - thin neck and very easy to play.

The one that gets the most playtime is actually the Taylor Baby.

I also sing in the choir at church so I suppose you could say that I am a byzantine chanter as well but I have only been doing that for about 6 months and have only been at the psaltis stand a handful of times (when physically forced to do so).

eoe..I knew I liked you for some reason, other than being EO ;)
..Reb..he could really play , even though people make fun of Winger.
I just missed him @ 3 months ago , he's on tour with Whitesnake , and sharing the guitar spotlight with Doug Aldridge.
..another great guitarist.

I do hope to sing in the choir once I get
chrismated. (thumbs up)

P.S.... What songs you been working on resently ?

I just noticed the KOA top to your guitar..thats part of the Arcacia (SP?) family..you know the wood for the Ark of the covenant..thats my favorite tone wood..my Taylor L7 has a KOA back I just love..plus the guitar I just built (Warmoth body parts) has a Flamed Koa neck.
Good choice.

Ramesses ,
your multi talented.

Choirfiend..do you teach voice...thats awesome..in the late 80's I moved to california to learn under Elizabeth "scream technique" Sabin..she trained so many people I looked up to at the time . She was trained by the great Mozzorotti (Sp?), an Italian tenor..what is it with those Italians and great opera voices....

Voice is my main instrument. I prefer singing choral music (Bach, Mozart, etc.) and not solo, but I did sing in a band with my dh (he's a bass player) a gazillion years ago. I have a cello collecting dust in my bedroom and I can plink on the piano enough to figure out my part but thats it.

I'd like to get back into a chorus. I was in one about 2-3 years ago (we sang Faure's Requiem and some selections by Bach) but haven't had the time lately.

I enjoy different styles of music but not Jazz or Country (ick).

Clarinet (2 years)
Bass Clarinet (6 years)
Voice (choirs for 13 years, not including my tenure at the chanter's stand)

I haven't played either the clarinet or bass clarinet since high school, but I wasn't too bad. I'd like to learn to play the autoharp, though. I know...I'm a nerd.

I was a piano major in college. I also started learning pipe organ my junior year. I am currently trying to learn violin again along with my almost 4 year-old son. Before I had children, I was a coloratura and sang in many small sacred music choirs, but for some reason, having kids destroyed my voice.
I haven't played piano in a while because I don't own an instrument. I played way more Beethoven than is healthy for any humanbeing and my favorite genre is Beethoven. Okay, I also LOVE baroque-especially father Bach and I have an obsession with 16th century English choral music-- sacred and secular.

Acoustic guitar at home, voice in church choir (though it's a bit raspy from yelling at students at present).

I play my ipod pretty regular, piano way less regular since I had kids, and sing alto in our church choir. I remember about 3 chords on acoustic guitar - G, A, and D. Oh and A minor. I played the G chord on the autoharp pretty rhythmically in our 4th grade school musical, Cool in the Furnace, about Shadrach Meshach and Abednego, and I know some basic fingering on the recorder - a plastic clarinet/flute type thing.

I struggle through some of this.

I compose songs that I do not write down, so I play them from time to time so I do not lose them. In the process, I drive my family nuts.

Do you mind sharing what's in the fine print on your Bach sheet music, Theophorus? These old tired eyes struggle. And would that be piano?

Thanks. I play his Inventions #'s 13 and 14 to remind my fingers and to sinc up my brain. There's is something very comforting to me about his precision and order.

I've played guitar since I was about 8 or so. I also play bass, harmonica, and tuba. I sing and write song (though I haven't written anything in a long long time.) Mainly though, these days, I just chant.

Mandolin!....and some guitar.

I play in a bluegrass/gospel band called Ploughshare. I sing high tenor on most songs, but can carry the bass line when I have too.

Additionally, I play in a jamgrass duet ...me on mando and my friend on killer guitar...mostly Grateful Dead stuff and the like.

I think, therefore, I JAM! :)

You guys are so talented.

I took piano lessons for several years as a child, but didn't keep it up. Now I'm reduced to picking out the soprano and alto parts on my keyboard, to practice our church music.

I've always loved singing in choirs, but never had a solo quality voice. I used to sing soprano (mostly 2nd soprano) but now I sing alto, though I don't have a very good range. I just love to sing, though, and I'm thankful Father asked me to be in the choir, and hasn't asked me to leave . . . . . yet. ;)

I sing alto in my university choir (and in church, whenever we decide to have a choir :P ). I would say I have a pretty good range. Alto parts tend to be either the most boring or the most difficult. ^_^

I play guitar and I am genuinely awful at playing electric bass. I cannot sing a note, but I try.

Strawm: If Vasileos hasn't answered yet, IIRC he has recorded some metal cds.

Alto parts tend to be either the most boring or the most difficult. ^_^

This is so true. I like it when the notes follow the melody within three notes (don't remember what that's called) and then get really close (diminished? 7th?) with a vibrating tension before splitting off again. I need to get my dusty theory books out again.

Ah! I forgot. I also play the didgeridoo. Buzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I am finally getting the circular breathing but it is difficult. My cheap didge does not have much backpressure so it is tough.

I also have the really odd talent of being able to do tuvan throat singing. I can sing 3-4 notes at once.

I am not so good at sygyt but I can sing Chylandyk and Kargyraa

I had piano lessons as a child, learned the clarinet between the ages of 12-17. (I still have my clarinet)... I have an organ (Hammond A-100) and have a Yamaha PSR 620. I play only occasionally anymore. Too busy. :(

I play low brass and some piano, really only enough piano to bang through choir music. I play in a professional brass group, and teach music history to undergrads who couldn't possibly care less.
