I kinda asked this in my Hi post, but I wanted to get some responses.
Does anyone here attend a Calvary Chapel? I go to Harvest, in Riverside.
If not, does anyone here know what I am talking about?
You may have heard some of our pastors, Chuck Smith, Greg Laurie, Jon Courson, ect. At least here in SoCal, you can't listen to a christain radio station without hearing them. If you listen to Air1, Steve Wilburn in one of the pastors at my church.
Just wondering, no good reason, other than I'm getting tired of debating.

When I was in my late teens friends and I use to go to the Costa Mesa Calvary on Friday and Saturday nights for the free concerts they had. When I first started attending they were in a circus tent. :) It was right at the height of the Jesus Movement and the place was crowded every weekend. I really enjoyed it.
Right before I moved here to Florida I was attending the San Bernardino Vineyard and living in San Bernardino and enjoyed listening to Greg Laurie on the radio. Many of the Vineyard Pastors came out of Calvary Chapel. I think both groups have very good teachers and I tend to recommend either one to someone searching for a place to attend.
Of course, like any church, they vary according to Pastor. One in Orlando might be very different from the one in Costa Mesa. But I consider those to be minor issues. Whereever Jesus is lifted up and the Word is taught is a good place to go. . .until the Lord tells you different.
Blessings,

I attended Calvary Chapel in Costa Meas, years ago when I lived in Orange County, Ca.
I really enjoyed Chuck Smith and the fellowship there. :)

I briefly attended Calvary Chapel in Austin, Tx. I love their expository preaching. When I was in college I used ot listen to Calvary Chapel Ontario, Ca. with pastor David Rosales. I think now it is CC of Chino Hills (maybe Chino valley) but I loved listening to him. He preached my favorite sermon ever on Ephesians 4:1-6. I also like to listen to Greg Laurie and Chuck Smith and when I was in Austin I listened to the pastor in Austin. (I forget his name now) But i think CC is great and they have really affected my walk with Christ in a positive way.

Isn't your Church doing a interview with Hal Lindsey tonight?

Just curious SoccerAaron, why wouldn't you attend a CC? Also, where would that interview be (TV?)

First, there are none around here that I know of. Second because they hold to completely different beliefs, so I probably wouldn't learn anything. And I believe the interview was at the church. I'm trying to find out if there is any other way of watching it.

Curious why do you not think that you could not learn anything from them because thy hold different beliefs? I am not a 5 point Calvinist or a complete Arminian but I learn something much from each.

That's why I said probably.
When you teach, you teach from a certain view point. Say they do a sermon based all around the rapture(big these days), I won't learn anything because It was based around something I find false. See?

I understand what you are saying. But one thing I have learned in the last 10 years is that even if I almost completely disagree with someone I can learn from them even if I am not learning what they are trying to teach me. For instance from Calvinists I learn about the sovereignty of God. A member of this board, Reformanist, helped me to really look at how much the sovereignty of God means. But also I have a ver Arminian prof. and although I disagree with much of what he says I have learned that witnessing is very important. I knew both of these concepts before they told me but their stressing of them helped me give them more importance than I realized before. Basically i try to learn from everyone while keeping a sound theological base.
I hope this did not sound condescending or like I am trying to lecture you because you are yonger. That is not my purpose. I am just trying to spread what Christ has taught one of his humble servants to another. Please pm me if this comes across in anyway poorly. Actually just pm me because we need to get back to the topic of the thread.
May God bless and keep you.
