My main reason for being non-denominational is to effectively do the work of God. To me, religions pose to much of a hindrance with some of their doctrines! I believe in the Bible whole sale 100%, but I can't move freely with some religious beliefs because it would block me from doing as God asks according to their interpretation. I am a sabbath keeper however!

M. Scott Peck wrote in his book, "...some seek in religion an escape from mystery, for others religion is a way to approach mystery." I feel that in every religion, there are people who are honestly seeking God; His will and His Love. Those who 'hunger and thirst after righteousness.'
And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing they might not see, and hearing they might not understand. Luke 8:10

But for some people, religion is an easy crutch, a set of cut-and-dried rules that they use to cover or cloak themselves. Any issue outside 'the rules' they usually prefer not to deal with. They allow all of the rules to do the thinking for them. To me Christianity is more than just rules and regulations. Unlocking the mysteries of God means finding answers for myself, answers to help others.

To me Christianity means a close knit bond with God. I like to use the Bible for my instructions and follow God's lead. Just sticking with rules makes me feel distanced from the warmth and Love of God's personality. It is not just my belief, but my life!
