View Full Version : Demand Exceeds Supply? Never!

I know quite a few people who are taking prescription medication to help control symptoms of anxiety, depression, and even bi-polar disorder.

It seems to me to be getting worse. Maybe it's a reaction to what seems to be increasing instability in people, the economy, the government, and relationships.

A widely accepted definition of stress is:

The demand of a situation is perceived to exceed the resources available.

In other words, you're in over your head; you can't succeed; the situation requires stuff you don't have and can't get; you're going down and have no possibility of success.

That would stress out anyone, wouldn't it?

Actually, that was a trick question. Because if you're a born-again Christian, you have already died to the elemental physical problems going on around you and you've been resurrected to a new life where you have the capacity to walk by the spirit, rather than the flesh.

One way is dependent on the circumstances. The other one changes the circumstances.
I Cor. 13:4-8 NIV

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs.

Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Love never fails.

1 John 4:16 NIV

And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him.
God told us that we will be delivered by returning and resting, that our strength will lie in quiet confidence.

Confidence in what? God's love!

Religion has tried to pervert and twist the precious, life-giving love of God into something that it is not. For instance, you hear people say that God made them sick to teach them a lesson. Or God loves them, so He's breaking them down to make them depend on Him.

Is that true? Can it be?

If you read the Bible, you see that sickness is a curse, brought into this earth by Adam's sin, caused by the devil's deception. No amount of twisting that truth will make sickness a blessing.

An easy way to really get to know God is to think of someone you love, and how you would treat them if you did everything right. No mistakes, no selfishness anywhere in the relationship, just perfect love.

What would you do for them? How would you treat them? What would you hope from them?

God is love.

He's not going to pervert the meaning of love into something that it's not. Many things in this earth realm have become twisted due to Satan's rulership here.

But if you read the definition of love again, you see that God is a good, loving Father, and He wants us to succeed, to be blessed, to be happy in our lives!

Any time the demand seems to exceed the supply, creating a tense, stressful reaction, remember God and His amazing love for you. He has actually given you everything to meet every need.

With Him, demand never exceeds supply.Matthew 17:20 NIV

He replied, "Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, 'Move from here to there' and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you."

I John 4:4 NIV

You, dear children, are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.

1 Corinthians 15:57

But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians 4:13 KJV

I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
The next time the situation seems over your head, or maybe even just a little bit scary, remember that God is love and "perfect love casts out fear".

Pray a quick prayer under your breath, asking God to strenghten you and give you the grace to succeed in the situation. Ask Him to guide you and to give you the words to speak when questioned. Ask Him for His love to flow through you to the point that you are running over with love for others.

God is love.

Love never fails.

Nothing is an overwhelming situation when God is with you! And if God is with you (and He is if you have chosen Him to live in you as your Saviour), who can dare to come against you?

You will not fail, because love never fails. You have everything within you to meet every situation. Trust Him. He loves you more than you realize.

Hi Laurie,

Interesting article, but always remember that our Almighty God gave the medical profession a gift of medicine.

Actually, 1 Corinthians 13 is my favourite. Yep, LOVE NEVER FAILS.

Love in Christ

Yep, thanks Elijah2. I do take medication for Anxiety/depression and I thank God everyday for the strength to go to a medical professional for help. I have a medical condition that requires me to take these meds. Before I was being treated, no matter how hard I tried to pray I couldn't worship the Lord like I should have been. When depression clouds your life your perspective changes, even to the point of losing your faith.

Yep Gwen's Mom,

I can assure you in time as you get closer to our Lord Jesus Christ you will begin to see that you may not need the drugs that you are taking.

I can only speak from experience.

As we, been there and done that.

As we get Free in Christ, we get free of drugs.

Love in Christ

Absolutely!

Actually this came up on another forum as well, with the misunderstanding that I was telling people to stop taking their medication.

Let me just say that I am NOT giving medical advice!

All I offer is HOPE in our Lord as the One who has overcome and has given us His Spirit to help us as well.

As we grow in our faith in His promises, we see that they have all been answered by Christ ("are all yes in Christ") and all we have to do is believe to receive them (say "amen").Jeremiah 8:22

Is there no balm in Gilead? Is there no physician there? Why then has the health of the daughter of my peoplenot been restored?

Mark 2:17

And when Jesus heard it, he said to them, "Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick. I came not to call the righteous, but sinners."

Luke 4:23

And he said to them, "Doubtless you will quote to me this proverb, 'Physician, heal yourself.' What we have heard you did at Capernaum, do here in your hometown as well."Christ HAS prepared the way...

Peace, saints.

I don't disagree with anti-depressents, but from a personal experiance of being on them on 3 different times in my life, when the dark days are on the horizan I find that the lord comforts me with a healthy alternative of omega 3 oils and a herbal rememdy called st johns wort. I also find that our lifestyles of today have a big stress factor that can not be denied and we all take on more than we can all handle, after finding jesus last year I have now been taking a step back in his comforting arms and maybe i think also being a new christian it is maybe easier to relax with him and knowing you can trust him with your life and emotions of the bad days that I encounter.:)

It is something I'm STILL learning, and I've been a Christian for over 30 years!

Yes, I agree that it is the lifestyle and often just the symptoms of living in this world which create such stress in our lives. I believe that is part of the "end times" tribulation and trials we read about in Revelation.

Just entering His peace, His rest, His joy, IS victory over the world.

Thank you for your response and may God's grace continue to shine in your life!

First of all, I am on anti-depressants
For my depression and for my asbergers
As you can tell that I support them
I need them in order not to make me
Lose my temper and for me not to get all worked up.
If I don't have them, then you will see a different
Side of me that you all don't want to see.

Some can use meds as a Crutch. My mother did.
I however need to use meds daily. If I go off my moods and depression go right wild.
God has given my help through meds, doctors and support from others.

You know, anti-depressants aside, it is very easy to become overwhelmed and feel like we cant deal with things. Its easy to get hyped up, feel like things wont get better. Ironically enough, I felt this way just this morning. For a short time it felt like the walls were closing in. I prayed. God gave me TOTAL peace and my whole outlook changed in an instant. He reminded me that HE is in control, and he is with me through everything. I totally put my trust in him, and something that could have been a very ugly situation was just fine. Just fine. He is awesome.

Hopefully where WE ARE is a starting point. That is my hope, that we will see that, according to God, ALL things are possible! Healing is possible, increased, abundant LIFE is possible!

If it is written in God's word, then it is achievable by us, by faith.

We are, as Paul, reaching forward, leaving behind the old and pressing on to take hold of the New.

Renewed life, renewed joy, renewed peace.

Where we are right now is a starting point. Where we end up is what counts, right?!

Father in Heaven, I ask that we all begin to see the reality of Your Word, the hope that is there, the promises You hold out to us. I pray as Paul prayed, that we all continue to grow in the knowledge of Your promises, and what You have given to us, that we might take hold of the abundant, prosperous health and LIFE that You have supplied through the work of Your dear Son, Jesus on the cross. Thank You Father for being our Provider. We receive increased wisdom and understanding of Your Plan for our lives right now, each of us individually and as the body of Christ. In Jesus' Holy Name, Amen.

According to Christ if our faith was such we could in His name quite literally move mountians, and heal the sick. I have seen the dieing healed in Christs name and in three days leave the hospital. i have seen what the Dr. said was a brain dead man shead a tear when he was told Christ Loved him. and within a week he left the hospital. I have seen a man who hadnt spoke for 40 years speak because the light of Christ shined upon him through Love. And yes now i have seen my sister take words given to her by God that found their way to her through faith and obidence and she has used them wisely and taught others what she has been shown. O yes a true servent i am proud to know!! God bless you Laurie!!

Matthew 10:8

Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse those who have leprosy, drive out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.

I SO much want to see the dead raised! :) Blessings to you too this fine day!

My dear sister if it be Gods Will you will. Did Paul, Peter, John, Matthew, Mark, Luke.
Did our examples let distance stop them from preaching from healing, or did they send written letters to others. We today are still following these letters.
Gods Power is not hindered by distance nor time.
God is with this forum you can see it daily through the works of our brothers and sisters through written letters that cover the world from the east to the west from the north to the south.
why my sister let distance hinder your dreams.
Why limit ourselves to Texas, Think as a deciple of Christ dont limit yourself we can heal and we can preach and we can pray together right here on this forum and heal more and teach more than we could ever reach in person.
Where there is two so there is God. what ever you do i am a letter away we can heal together we can pray together right here.
God has set no limitations that we must do so in person, just the oppisite we are shown daily in the Bible the strength of a letter.
When you are ready let me know and we will begin there are others with the faith to help also.
Who knows maybe they will start a new part of a forum just to do so.
Also dont forget Christs example when he healed others from a distance.

With Christ you will never run out
Remember the story of the Samaritian woman
Where she has five husbands and living with a man
That she didn't feel satisfaction in them but only
Could feel eternal quench of thirst in Jesus Christ that
Day where He stopped for a drink but instead was giving her a drink?
