Hi guys
I dont go to church right now but as soon as i find one i feel the spirit in i will.
For many years i have seen Preachers on tv and mostly found them to be money grabbing and vile people, Benny Hinn being one of the ones that make me most sick. However ive seen myself watching them more often in the last few weeks and in more cases than not have enjoyed there lessons very much.
What i wanted was your opinion on them and whether you watch them or not.
Thanks

I have found the teaching on Calvary Satelite Network (radio and webcast) to be much more biblical than most of the tv preachers.

I find most of the preachers on TV are all preaching to the masses. Prosperity preaching is not good, when not mixed with the rest of the story.
I know that God takes care of his people. The ones that Love him and serve him. I also know its rains on teh just and the unjust.
I find that the majority, not all I do not catagorize them, but most of them play the role like a physocologist preaching to the emotion and response instead of the soul. If that makes sense to you.
I like a couple but that covers it.

I watch Tv preachers sometimes, I just listen to the message, I try not to worry about their personal life, but it is good if a preachers practices what he preaches.

I agree about the prosperity teaching. That is what stopped me watching them originally as i found that there message was usually "give me your money and you will be blessed". I turn off when they preach like this.
I feel that some are not as bad as others with this type of preaching and though the teaching isnt very deep it is worth a listen. I enjoy listening to Joyce Myers and Jesse Duplante and most of the British ones seem to be alittle more grounded in scripture and less on money, but that could just be me.

In my opinion, televangelist best quality is also their worst. Their zealousness.

I occasionally watch one, if they are preaching/teaching from the bible. I get really agitated when I see them broadcasting phony stuff, or focusing on "send me your money and . . . . .".
I especially don't like those with all the overdone robes and "clown suits" that some of them use. Along with that the multi-million dollar edifices to their personal ego turn me right off.
I am nore interesed in the content of the message than the outrageous dress or surroundings.

BTW: I occasionally watch Joyce Myers and she seems to be OK. Other than that, I have none to recommend.

I tried so hard to give televangelists a chance... the only Christian channel I have is TBN, and other than "Way of the Master," (an awesome show!) and a good movie here and there, I am totally opposed to this channel. I have watched many, and sometimes I find myself liking it, agreeing with it, then I'll hear them talk about the prosperity gospel or twist scripture and I change the channel in disgust. Hinn is dispicable. Many others as well. The only one I have found that was ok from what I saw, and I havent seen much, was Hagee. But then I saw him on Hinns show... and I dont think a man who is deeply rooted in Gods truth would have been on his show... so even now, I hesitate with him.
It is a sad world when I have stopped watching tv and believe that the Christian channel is just as horrific for my kids to watch as some of the obviously bad channels. I was flipping through channels with my 5 year old in the room, I paused for a minute on TBN and quickly changed it in fear that she would see Benny Hinn bonking people in the head in the name of God.
Perhaps other channels arent as bad, I do not know.
Keep searching for a church and keep praying that God will lead you to where you need to be. Till then, my only reccomendation is a wonderful, wonderful website I have found that holds hundreds, if not thousands of audio sermons you can either listen to online, or download. Most of the ones I have listened to are VERY Biblical.

don't get me started on tv preachers!!! has anyone seen the one where they try to sell you a 'green prosperity cloth'!!! hello! where does it say in scripture you need a propseity cloth... as far as I am aware it states that all you need is Jesus...

talk of the ..... the guy with the cloth is on now!!!! apparently God uses the guy and the cloth as his channel to heal... now God can heal how he likes, but i don't think he's dependant on a green piece of cloth... oh wait... he's now talking about 'finanicial' blessing.... and more money....

For the most part I can't stand watching most TV preachers. However, I do get a lot of spiritual nourishment from watching Charles Stanley. He's got such a down-home, simple way of teaching that really hooks me.

My church broadcasts on tv in Dallas as well as some other cities. However, this is public access TV so it is very far from the typical televangelist type approach.
I'll watch some services on tv from other churches. I'll watch mass on EWTN although I don't always agree with the homily. I'll watch the mass from Notre Dame some mornings. I'll also watch some of the other churches who broadcast either online or over public access TV.

Here in Canada we have the Miracle Channel, it's abvailable in the states too on satellite and I'm not sure where else. They have good programming on this channel.
I have a few favorites when it comes to tv preachers... it just depends on what kind of preaching each person prefers. Sometimes I get turned off (actually they get turned off-- click ha ha) by some people because they start focusing on finances.
There are alot of good programs out there though and it's nice to be able to access them at home on weekdays and not just weekends.

I have a very hard time watching them on t.v or listening to them on radio. For no other reason then I have short attention span when it comes to people talking and talking...so they really have to grab my attention. My pastor is really the only one I want to hear all the time.

If you want to get some good Christian TV I would suggest Sky Angel - it works on Dish Network Satellite equipment - you can usually get the equipment free.

They have tons of ministry, family, news and variety for around $15.00 a month - I've had it for years - we really enjoy it.

The problem with Joel Osteen is that he will not ever come out and say the Jesus is the only way. He was asked this question on Larry King and tapped danced around it.

There is a Biblical premise for a prayer cloth.
Acts 19:11God did extraordinary miracles through Paul, 12so that even handkerchiefs and aprons that had touched him were taken to the sick, and their illnesses were cured and the evil spirits left them.
But I've never heard it being tied into prosperity - I find no Biblical premise for that at all - sounds flakey.

How odd. I saw him on 'the View' and he said that Jesus is the only way into heaven. I wonder why he was avoiding the question....

The only TV preacher I thought was genuine and authorative was Gene Scott. But I think he's dead now.
