Hello brothers and sisters,

I've got a simple question (and complicated at the same time :scratch: )

Can we intercede in behalf of someone?? I mean, may I ask God to cure a person from an addiction?

I've been praying a lot, but this person is not willing to stop drinking alcohol...and I know that the first step needs to be taken by him...

What do you think??????????

You not only can do that, but you should. However, sometimes it takes a while. A speaker I once heard was talking about praying people for years before getting any results. But those results were worth it, because they were very hard cases and a lot of Christians would think at first that these stories were too good to be true.

It ABSOLUTELY works! You can ask God for ANYTHING for ANYONE! God hears your prayers! Do know this, it will be in GOD'S timing & for HIS glory & only GOD can cause a change of heart. Sometimes, this is called intercessory prayer & you could, very well, be called as an intercessor. We NEED more intercessors! Do EVERYTHING as unto the Lord!

I'll agree 100 percent. Ask God to give another person strength to handle what they can not.

I always though that we must go to the "bottom of the pit" in order to learn...after all, we have the free will.
But at the same time I feel that I need to do something.

Now I feel more impelled to continue praying for my friend. I really hope it touches his heart.

Praying for someone else's healing is a great thing to do! However, each person has free will. Whether the other person chooses to quit drinking or not is his/her choice. If your friend isn't ready to give up alcohol, all you can do is continue to pray for him/her and offer your support, love and friendship.

Hi Adriana,

Being an ex-alcoholic, then you keep on praying for them.

But, at the same time you bind the spirit of alcoholism to silence and interference in their life.

God healed me of alcoholism at 6am on the 6th September 1992.

And He can do the same for your friend.

Sometimes, God has to take somebody to the "bottom of the pit" to help them. Once they are on their knees, they are in a good position to seek God. If he/she gets to that point, then your prayer will be needed all that more.
Christian intercession often leads God to act, but He will act in His own way and time. As an example, I can give the story of my parents.
My dad was an alcoholic for years, I think because of things he saw in the war. My mother wanted him to quit and even he wanted to quit. But there seemed no way out. After many years of my mother's prayer, he made the first step and went to the doctor, who ended up not being very helpful. However, God was there for him in a way that nobody expected.
He was a man who was never sick for a day in his life, either before this or after this, but God struck him down with the flu so bad that he could not get out of bed. My mother, God bless her, prayerfully refused to bring him anything to drink, and the DTs set in before he was well enough to get out of bed. She nursed him through it, and after he had recovered, he never laid hand on another drink again.
I still thank God every time I think about it, and I'm sure he does, too.
Keep on praying. It really works.
