So who are these 144,000 'virgins' that follow the lamb?
Found in Revelation 14

14:1 And I looked, and, lo, a Lamb stood on the mount Sion, and with him an hundred forty and four thousand, having his Father's name written in their foreheads. 14:2 And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard the voice of harpers harping with their harps: 14:3 And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders: and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty and four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. 14:4 These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goeth. These were redeemed from among men, being the firstfruits unto God and to the Lamb.

Shir HaSharim ~ Song of songs

1:3 Because of the savour of thy good ointments thy name is as ointment poured forth, therefore do the virgins love thee.

Mattisyahu

25:1 Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

I came across something quite interesting when looking up info on the Figs of Israel for the other thread I started. This is quite interesting:

There are three kinds of virgins: a virgin woman, virgin soil, and a virgin sycamore. (Babylonian Talmud Nida 8b).

Now what is a sycamore have to do with virgins? In the Middle East, specifically thought to originate in Egypt but very early in history brought to Canaan, is a tree called the Sycamore FIG. Yes, a fig tree. This fig is very special and different from others well known.

For one, the figs do not grow on the branches, but on the trunk of the tree. ;) The figs are prolific, but only if they are helped, as they can only ripen if first pierced or torn with an iron hook.

Then they ripen within THREE DAYS.

I was just listening to the book of Hoshea ( remember the name Hoshea, or Oshea, means Salvation) yesterday and after reading this today this came to mind:

6:1 Come, and let us return unto the L-RD: for he hath torn, and he will heal us; he hath smitten, and he will bind us up. 6:2 After two days will he revive us: in the third day he will raise us up, and we shall live in his sight. 6:3 Then shall we know, if we follow on to know the L-RD: his going forth is prepared as the morning; and he shall come unto us as the rain, as the latter and former rain unto the earth.

There is more, but I think I will let y'all chew on that awhile, I know that Visionary has worked on this alot, I am excited about this. :)

Rev 7:1-8
7:1 And after these things I saw four angels standing on the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, nor on the sea, nor on any tree.
2 And I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God: and he cried with a loud voice to the four angels, to whom it was given to hurt the earth and the sea,
3 Saying, Hurt not the earth, neither the sea, nor the trees, till we have sealed the servants of our God in their foreheads.
4 And I heard the number of them which were sealed: and there were sealed an hundred and forty and four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel.
5 Of the tribe of Juda were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Reuben were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Gad were sealed twelve thousand.
6 Of the tribe of Aser were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Nepthali were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Manasses were sealed twelve thousand.
7 Of the tribe of Simeon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Levi were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Issachar were sealed twelve thousand.
8 Of the tribe of Zabulon were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Joseph were sealed twelve thousand. Of the tribe of Benjamin were sealed twelve thousand.
KJV

What I tend to refer to as the "remnant".

Rom 9:27-28
27 Esaias also crieth concerning Israel, Though the number of the children of Israel be as the sand of the sea, a remnant shall be saved:
28 For he will finish the work, and cut it short in righteousness: because a short work will the Lord make upon the earth.
KJV

I make no pretense of being any sort of end times expert though. :) Nor of understanding prophecy and the like. This is merely a connection that has been made in my mind for some time. Perhaps the concept of the remnant is meant to refer to something else, I don't know.

I just happened into the MJ forum, and found this thread. You've wetted my apetite, therefore, pour out some more of this that we can glean from.

I wish I had my facts here but that verse has also been taught this way: virgins.=not defiled by women=not defiled by idols= not corrupted by idol worship....I will look for the source tomorrow....great fig analogy Z:clap:

Isn't it interesting that figs do not grow on branches but on the trunk of the tree.... just like MJ... not a branch but attached to the trunk...
