Nothing on the Jacksonville news yet or the USGS reporting page. It might be to soon if it just happened.

Another one of my daughters said it was around 11:00. She calls and said she felt a vibration as she was sitting on her couch. And she lives out side of Gainesville Fl. That is some distant from the panhandle of Fl.
I still have not heard a thing about it on the news.

I am 25 miles or so east of Gainesville, but I was out and about so I didn't feel it. A Mag six is a pretty good shake. But the duration was fairly short.

Personally I believe in Pre-Quate as much as after shocks. Prequakes are the early movements that take place on a fault before the full energy is released. This movement breaks up some of the tight areas and liquifies the rock making it lubricated easier to slip and then things are set for the big Quake that follows. I have seen this a number of times, where the so called after shocka are greater than the initial Quake. But I am an observer and not a geologist.

I wonder if Florida has ever had this happen before. I have never heard of Florida getting a quake before. I do know one thing. Coral does not shift. It crumbles.

Torah,

Florida has had only a few quakes, like 3 -4 over the last 100 years. This one was really in the Gulf.

We have no place to fellowship here. I know there was a group at one time in Gainesville on Newberry Road, but I have never made it out there. It is a long drive for us.

Wow, 6.0 is big, especially for Florida, I always wanted to move there, but the L-rD had other plans for me. :)

So now hurricanes are not enough, and huge python monsters taking over the everglades hunting down giant gators, but now earthquakes?

Hmm, seems I remember hearing about a vision from some Messianics in florida about some changes, but I thought that was in the Spiritual, maybe it happens int he physical first?
