View Full Version : The Christian Hang Out

JesusServant
11th February 2003, 04:20 PM
Come in!  Hang out and relax.  I'll throw on the first song.  Welcome to the Christian Hang Out.  Where we post our favorite songs lyrics (I mean play the Christian Jukebox), talk about incredible experiences in our Churches and just come by to say hi and welcome in anyone who wants to enjoy some peaceful fellowship.

[No alcohol allowed please - Jesus is all we need in this Club :) ]

/me puts a dollar in the juke and chooses "The Change Inside of Me" - Mercy Me (c)2002

"Pardon me, if I've been acting strange

I haven't been myself lately

What you see, is a person rearranged

Someone affected me greatly

And I've got so much to say

Every since Jesus looked my way

Gonna raise my voice like thunder, and leave the world in wonder of the change

The change inside of me

And I will never stop believing, that you are the reason for this change

The change inside of me

Everyday, I'm taking in the view of His glory around me

I'm awake, and I have been made new, by the One who has found me

Words just can't say enough, when all I can feel is love

[(backgroud vocals) - Your life you gave for mine to save it's nothing less than a miracle

Your name I praise, because the change inside of me is so beautiful]

Gonna raise my voice like thunder, and leave the world in wonder of the change

The change inside of me

And I will never stop believing, that you are the reason for this change

The change inside of me"

/me slips another dollar in the jukebox (and mumbles something about inflation)

Hey another Mercy Me song...

Why would I spend my life longing for the day that it would end

Why would I spend my time pointing to another man

Isn't that crazy?

How can I find hope in dying with promises unseen

How can I learn Your way is better in everything I'm taught to be

Isn't that crazy?

I have not been called to the wisdom of this world

But to a God who's calling out to me

And even though the world may think

I'm losing touch with reality

It would be crazy to choose this world, over eternity

And if I boast let me boast in filthy rags made clean

And if I glory let me glory in my Savior's suffering

Isn't that crazy?

And as I live this daily life I trust You for everything

And I will only take a step when I feel You leading me

Isn't that crazy?

Call me crazy

You can call me crazy....

I have not been called to the wisdom of this world

But to a God who's calling out to me

And even though the world may think

I'm losing touch with reality

It would be crazy to choose this world, over eternity

It goes beyond all knowledge (Your love)
Or anything I've ever known (Your love)
Bearing what I never could (Your love)
Paid what I owed
Covering my darkest side (Your love say)
Unconditional it remains (That's what I'm talkin' 'bout)
Forever it purifies (Your love, say)
Ooh tell them 'bout it

They say that love is a give and take
The more we know about each other
The more love we exchange
But how can this be?
'Cause before I knew who You were (Before I knew You)
You were loving me, yeah
And a love like this is so hard to describe

Now I know the story
Of the gift You gave to man
And as we walk together
I would never understand
It would take a million lifetimes
To perceive the love that You have for my life
A love like this is really hard to describe

What kind
What kind of love is this?
Beyond anything I know
No other love
No other love
No other

Cool P4I. I wear that Mercy Me CD out. :)
BTW, why in the world is the last song cut so short? I love that song. hehe.

Nicole is awesome as well. What is her recent release? It was on our digital cable Christian music station this evening.... hmmmm.... my wee little mind is blank.

I don't think I've heard that song by Fred Hammond L4J. I like the lyrics though, that's for sure. :)

When the spirit of the Lord comes upon my heart
I will dance like David danced
When the spirit of the Lord comes upon my heart
I will dance like David danced
I will

Dance, I will dance
Dance like David danced
Dance, I will dance
Dance like David danced

I will dance
I will dance
I will dance like David danced

When the spirit of the Lord comes upon my heart
I will pray like David prayed
When the spirit of the Lord comes upon my heart
I will pray like David prayed

Pray, I will pray
Pray like David prayed
Pray, I will pray
Pray like David prayed

I will pray
I will pray
I will pray like David prayed

When the spirit of the Lord comes upon my heart
I will sing like David sang
When the spirit of the Lord comes upon my heart
I will sing like David sang

Sing, I will sing
Sing like David sang
Sing, I will sing
Sing like David sang

Pray, I will pray
Pray like David prayed
Pray, I will pray
Pray like David prayed

Dance, I will dance
Dance like David danced
Dance, I will dance

Hey did anyone watch the American Music Awards?

I happen to switch the channel over to it yesterday and it happened to be the award for best Inspirational Music section.

POD, Avalon and another group were nominated. Avalon won. I cldnt wait to hear who they wld thank on such a secular award ceremony. And they didnt disappoint.

They said something like "First of all we wld like to thank our Lord Jesus Christ. He's who we sing for and sing about!" and their supporters in the background cheered. One of them also said :" We didnt know there was a category for our type of songs."

Kind of reminds me of how the world saw the Brazilian player's I Belong to Jesus t-shirts when they won the world cup.

ps: anyone know why POD is a Christian grp? I saw their video on MTV and cant figure out anything Christian abt them???

Andrew it depends which song you hear - alive speaks about God and there are some others as well.

Ok this song kinda sums up my wkd

I beleive (Donna lasit - hillsong)

I say on sunday how much i want revival
Then on monday I cant even fin my Bible
Were's the power the power of the cross in my life

Im sick of playing the game of religion
Im tired of losing my reason for living
Were's the power the power of the cross in my life

Im not content just to walk through my life
giving in to the lies walking in compromises
now we cry out as a generation that was lost but now is found
in the power of the cross

we beleive in you we beleive in the power of your word and its truth
we beleive in you so, so we lay down our cause that our cross might be found in you

Im not satisfied doing it my own way
Im not satisfied to do church and walk away
Im not satisfied theres no love in my life but you

Im not satisfied living in yesterdays hour
Im not satisfied to have the form but not the power
Im not satisfied oh Lord i am cruxcified in you

Great lyrics in that song Shout2theLord.

Andrew, that's awesome! Kind of reminds me of watching our governor's inauguration recently and he had two different pastors there to pray and they both prayed in Jesus name. It made my day :)

I have never experienced anything in a secular environment like the Third Day concert this past summer. There were 15,000 people there praising the Lord together in an outdoor concert area where there's normally drugs, alcohol, vulgar language and nudity. I loved it! We jumped up and down in praise right on the devil's playground!

BTW, Third Day is my and my wife's favorite Christian band. If you haven't checked these guys out, go buy everything they have ASAP. It is completely lead by the Holy Spirit and just plain awesome.

On the banks of the Tennesee River
In a small Kentucky town
I drew my first breath one cold November morning
And before my feet even touched the ground
With the doctors and the nurses gathered 'round
I started to dance
I started to dance

A little boy full of wide-eyed wonder
Footloose and fancy free
But it would happen, as it does for every dancer
That I'd stumble on a truth I couldn't see
And find a longing deep inside of me, it said...

I am the heart, I need the heartbeat
I am the eyes, I need the sight
I realize that I am just a body
I need the life
I move my feet, I go through the motions
But who'll give purpose to dance
I am the dancer
I need the Lord of the dance

The world beneath us spins in circles
And this life makes us twist and turn and sway
But we were made for more than rhythm with no reason
By the one who moves with passion and with grace
As He dances over all that He has made

I am the heart, He is the heartbeat
I am the eyes, He is the sight
And I see clearly, I am just a body
He is the life
I move my feet, I go through the motions
But He gives purpose to chance
I am the dancer
He is the Lord of the dance

Lord of the dance
Lord of the dance
And while the music of His love and mercy plays
I will fall down on my knees and I will pray

I am the heart, You are the heartbeat
I am the eyes, You are the sight
And I see clearly, I am just a body
You are the life
I move my feet, I go through the motions
But You give purpose to chance
I am the dancer
You are the Lord of the dance

I am the dancer
You are the Lord of the dance

I've walked down a road where the devil's been
Where the kids have seen things they should have never seen
And the ancient stone knows the deeper tale
About a bloody game they called the holy war

Heaven is my home and there'll be no shame

I've walked down a road where the angel's been
Where the kids have seen things that we have never seen
And the ancient stone knows the deeper tale
About a bloody king who won the holy war

Heaven is my home and there'll be no shame to bear
Heaven is my home and there'll be no refugees

Try this:

Do you want a revolution?
Do you want a revolution?
Sick and tired of my brothas
Killing each other
Sick and tired of daddies leaving
Babies with their mothers
To every man that wants to lay around and play around
Listen potnah you should be man enough to stay around
Sick and tired of the church talkin religion
But yet they talk about each other makin decisions
No mo racism
Two facism
No pollution
The solution
A revolution
Do you want a revolution?
No crime
No dying
Politicians lying
Everybody's trying to make a dollar
It makes me wanna holla
The way they do my life
The way they do my life
There's gonna be a brighter day
All your troubles will pass away
A revolution comin
Yes it's comin
comin comin
Revolution's comin
Yes it's comin
Revolution comin comin
Do you want a revolution?
Do you want a revolution?
What you feeling, want you want son?
Who you callin to son?
You know Jesus is the true son
The second in the Trinity
I know you feelin Him
500 days left until the new millenium
You hearin 'em
Trumpets crack the sky
Christ the last the first the first the last
That won't pass
So don't be slippin brotha
Cause when I see Him I'm gettin caught up
We move too much
We do too much
And if you step against us
Then you lose too much
Ain't no stoppin what we doin
When the spirit is movin
Don't be hatin what I'm doin
I'm the vessel He's using
Everywhere I be they try to judge me
They try to shake me
They try to buzz me
But they can't break me cuz I'm down with Christ

Raise those hands up
Raise those hands up
Raise those hands up

If ya been delivered
Stand up on your feet and help me praise the Lord
Yea, yea, yea, yea, yea
Let me tell you now
If ya been delivered
Stand up now and help me praise the Lord
Here's the knowledge
Get your pen and paper
A spiritual caper
You'll be callin me later
Seeking Godly wisdom
Thats 2000 years in the making
I'm takin
The lesson that holds your deliverance
Asking me how God can save a man
Raise a man
The enemy he pays your man
So why you judging me
And you buggin me
Just remember me
Ain't no fear in me
You hearin me

Everybody that knows somebody if ya got deliverance get up and tellin everybody
Get your praise on
Everybody that knows somebody if ya got deliverance get up and tellin everybody
Get your praise on
Can I get my people everywhere to clap their hands
Clap to this song
If you're not ashamed to praise His name
Dance to this song
If you dont mind one time
Can I get you to move to this one
If you're not afraid to praise His name
Dance to this song
Get your praise on
Get on up
He brought you from a mighty long way
Get your praise on
One time for your holy mind
Get on up

You can shout to this
Bounce to this
Just as long as you don't question this
Radical
Acrobatical
Jesus Christ fanatical
Sabbatical taker
Innovator, in love with the creator
Since I was a baby
I know folk hate me
But lately
Don't really matter what you say
Them silly games you try and play
I represent the one who healed me
God's people can you feel me

All my people on the left
All my people on the right
Clap your hands
Make my praise the high praise
I wants to lift Him up
Make my praise the high praise
I wants to lift Him up
Talkin about the praise the high praise
I wants to lift Him up
Do that praise do that praise do it

I think this was on Nicole C Mullen's CD but it is from Psalm 27 and man oh man this will fire you up for any trial!

(Psalms 27:1) The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?

(Psalms 27:2) When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

(Psalms 27:3) Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

Gives me chills every time I read it and imagine David preparing for battle (spiritually and physically)

Old Damascus Road song, "Comin' Back Soon" - 1985  :D

Are you lookin' for relief from the pressures of everyday life?
Is your mind in the ozone, are you livin' on the edge of a knife?
Do your senses hold you captive while your heart hears a different tune?
Well it's Jesus that your hearin', better listen.  He's comin' back soon!
He's comin' back!

There's no way to hide.
Ahh, but He's on your side.
Just ask Him inside because, hey!
He's comin' back soon!

Are you worried 'bout the future, what it might have in store for you?
No comfort in the papers, nothin' new in the human zoo.
Ya know lots of people, but theirs never a friend in sight.
Jesus is the way, the truth, and the light!
He's comin' back!

Raise Him Up
(Print the Lyrics)

WHEN I FIRST MET HIS MAMA, SHE WAS JUST 19
….COULDN’T SAY FOR CERTAIN WHO THE FATHER WAS
BUT I HAVE KNOWN HIM SINCE HE WAS A PUP
AND I’M GONNA RAISE HIM UP

IF YOU NEVER KNEW YOUR DADDY
LIKE I NEVER KNEW MINE
IT FEELS LIKE EVERYBODY KNOWS
YOU’RE FATHERLESS
THIS BOY MAY NOT BE BLOOD OF MY BLOOD
BUT I’M GONNA RAISE HIM UP

I’’LL PROVIDE FOR HIM
WALK BESIDE OF HIM
I AM STRONG ENOUGH
CAUSE IT’S TIME HE KNEW
WHAT A SON CAN DO
WITH A FATHER’S LOVE

HE COULD CHANGE THE WORLD

YOU ONLY HAVE TO LOOK AT JOSEPH
A COUPLE THOUSAND YEARS AGO
HE HELD A NEWBORN BABY HE NAMED JESUS
HE SAID “HE MAY NOT BE BLOOD OF BY BLOOD
STILL I’M GONNA RAISE HIM UP

I WILL PROVIDE FOR HIM
WALK BESIDE OF HIM
I AM STRONG ENOUGH
I WILL SHOW HIM TOO
WHAT A SON CAN DO
WITH A FATHER’S LOVE

AND HE WILL CHANGE THE WORLD.

33 YEARS LATER
WHEN THE SON WAS IN HIS GRAVE
BROKEN AND ABANDONED
BY A WORLD HE CAME TO SAVE
HIS REAL DAD SAID
“HE’S MINE,
BLOOD OF MY BLOOD
AND I’M GONNA RAISE HIM UP”

I’LL PROVIDE FOR YOU
WALK BESIDE OF YOU
I AM STRONG ENOUGH
I HAVE SEEN FROM YOU
WHAT A SON CAN DO
WITH A FATHER’S LOVE

ONE MAN CHANGED THE WORLD AND HE CAN CHANGE YOUR WORLD

BUT YOU GOTTA RAISE HIM UP
RAISE HIM UP

Here's one by Dennis Jernigan

Just when I think I know you,
You go and surprise me,
With a part of You I've not seen,
Like every day's a birthday party here inside me,
You are simply more than I dreamed.

You are more than I had ever hoped for
More than I had ever dreamed of
More than any joy my words might convey
You are more with every day I know You
More than I could ever show You
More than anything You're worthy of praise
I like it that way!

Even through the hard times
Darkness all around me
You come shining showing the way
The more I get to know You,
You grow more astounding
Surprising with Your presence each day

You are like the dawn every morning
Chasing all the darkness away
Like a present, You're unwrapping before me
Revealing a little more day by day -- day by day

The Rhythm of Life

I have found the rhythm, Felt the beat of living
Played by One who's given me love to the rhythm of grace!
When my heart is strayin'
From the beat He's playin',
He comes gently swayin' me back
To the rhythm of grace!

Rockin' me over the stormy sea
Marching to the rhythm of grace
finding peace and security!
Really the Rhythm found me!
Never out of sync,
Always right on time.
Singing me through with Your melody,
Never late and never behind!
You are my Rhythm and Rhyme!
You are the rhythm of life!

Like love set to percussion,
A musical discussion,
Steady, never rushin',
As constant as night is to day!
More than just a notion;
Poetry in motion,
Like waves upon the ocean
Your love comes to take me away!

I have heard Your rhythm in the falling rain,
Telling me that You have washed away sin's stain!
I have heard Your rhythm in the flowing stream,
Telling me that You completely washed me clean!

Drops in a quarter... (and yes, Project86 is a Christian band ;) )

"Little Green Men", (c)2002, by Project86

Out of the playground's ashes
Come little men
With little games
They're playing war, planning new crusades
Like new arcades
The reason for the season is
To flood the media with suicidal mania
And paint the landscape with this human waste

Let's all sing a song of love
And we'll pretend we're not to blame
Let's sing, sing, sing
Sing a song of love
Sing until our throats bleed

And if this child could speak, he would say: I don't need anybody
I don't need anyone
I don't-
Need your guidance home

Watch as i build my empire
Watch as I rise and fall
Watch as-
I fight all alone

History's a stage for reruns
For 3am insomniacs
Who can quote the episodes:
"If tricycles came with guns we'd all be safe"
And little green men
Didn't come from outer space
With coupons in the Sunday paper
They came from corporate brains

So until we all confess and admit we stole the candy
These little men are playing games from here to eternity
But I'll be sitting by myself here watching oh so patiently
Waiting for the sky to fall and purge this frail humanity

Randy Travis
Raise Him Up
(Print the Lyrics)

Awesome lyrics!  I was flipping channels one night and a Billy Graham Crusade was on and Third Day and Randy Travis performed at the beginning and this was one of the songs Randy did.  I'm not a big country music or Travis fan, but that song is awesome.

Here's one from Third Day that isn't very well known.  It is on (forget the name) a half live/half recorded mixed CD and I love this song.  It's kind of a rock/gospel mix and it's very fast/upbeat.

(NOTE: Wha!?  When I found the lyrics to this song, it says music and lyrics by Bob Dylan and Tim Drummond.  This HAS to be another Bob Dylan?!)

I was blinded by the devil, born already ruined
Stone-cold dead as I stepped out of the womb
By His grace I have been touched
By His word I have been healed
By His hand I've been delivered
By His spirit I've been sealed!

Now I've been saved by the blood of the Lamb
I'm saved by the blood of the Lamb
And I'm so glad
Yes, I'm so glad
Now I'm so glad (So glad)
I want to thank you, Lord
I just want to thank you, Lord
Thank You, Lord (Thank You, Lord)

By His truth I can be upright
By His strength I can endure
By His power I've been lifted
In His love I am secure
He bought me with a price
Freed me from the pit
Full of emptiness and wrath
And the fire that burns in it

Now I've been saved by the blood of the Lamb
I'm saved by the blood of the Lamb
And I'm so glad
Yes, I'm so glad
Now I'm so glad (So glad)
I want to thank you, Lord
I just want to thank you, Lord
Thank You, Lord (Thank You, Lord)

Nobody to rescue me
Nobody would dare
I was going down for the last time
But by His mercy I've been spared
Not by works
But by faith in Him who called
For so long I've been hindered
For so long I've been stalled

Plankeye - Who loves you more
<H1>Who loves you more?</H1>I stir my cup and think of you; It's just the little things that break me
But it's not right to hold you so tight; I end up wrestling with God over you...
Whose hands are safer? Who could steal you from His grip?
It separates the ocean, with a brush so effortless...
There is nothing to worry about, because who loves you more than Jesus?
So here again I find myself and everything I've ever loved,
at the foot of the cross with three nails
There is nothing to worry about, because who loves you more than Jesus?
If I hold onto you, will I let go of Christ? Will I end up denying Him in abundance of thrice?
Will I ened up in the end with less tan I started with? When I surrender...

I think these are probably in the top five best Christian song lyrics ever, IMHO. These words are so perfectly written...

Ginny Owens - Free

Turning molehills into mountains,
Making big deals out of small ones,
Bearing gifts as if they're burdens'
This is how it's been.
Fear of coming out of my shell,
Too many things I can't do too well,
Afraid I'll try real hard and I'll fail -
This is how it's been.
Till the day you pounded on my heart's door,
And you shouted joyfully,
"You're not a slave anymore"

You're free to dance-
Forget about your two left feet
And you're free to sing-
Even joyful noise is music to me
And you're free to love,
Cause I've given you My love,
and it's made you free
I have set you free

My mind finds it hard to believe
That You became humanity
and changed the course of history,
Because You loved me so.
And my heart cannot understand
Why You'd accept me as I am,
But You say You've always had a plan,
And that's all I need to know.
So when I am consumed by what the world will say,
It's then You're singing to me,
As you remove my chains

You're free to dance-
Forget about your two left feet
And you're free to sing-
Even joyful noise is music to me
And you're free to love,
Cause I've given you My love,
and it's made you free
I have set you free

Free from worry, free from envy and denial
Free to live, free to give, free to smile

You're free to dance-
Forget about your two left feet
And you're free to sing-
Even joyful noise is music to me
And you're free to love,
Cause I've given you My love,
and it's made you free
I have set you free

Here is a song that I could have wrote! This is so how I have been feeling latly!
By:Nichole Nordeman
Even Then
It's the fear that keeps me wide awake
In the middle of the night
When the expectations are too great
And the bar gets raised too high
So I do the best with what I've got
And hope that no one knows
That I strain to see how high I can
Try to stand on these toes
Until I'm measured, but you know better

(chorus)So, thank You, Jesus
Even when you see us just as we are
Fragile and frail and so far
From who we want to be
So, thank You, Jesus
Even when the pieces are broken and small
Dreams shatter and scattered like the wind
Thank You, even then

So I put aside the masquerade
And admit that I am not okay
Which may not be the thing to say
But I'm not ashamed to need You more each day

(Chorus)

We raise the standard, and try to reach You
But we'll never make it, and we don't need to...

Here's one that I wrote a few years ago. It did'nt make the charts or anything like that but people in my church at the time injoyed singing it.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Just Like You

May we come as little children to sit upon Your lap
May we look into Your eyes and see exsactly where we're at,
'Cause our desire, is to be, Daddy, just like You

Chorus: Just like You, Just like You
Daddy, just like You

Father shine Your light upon our souls
Show us what we need to know
May we come before You boldly
Unafraid to grow

Chorus

Bridge: May we feel Your heart and know Your mind
As we look into Your face
May our hearts be filled with Your tenderness,
Your mercy and Your grace.

Chorus: Just like You, Just like You,
Daddy, just like You.

But we'll never make it, and we don't need to...

That's somewhat disturbing. It sounds like it's saying that since we can't reach God's perfection, we shouldn't strive toward it. On the contray, we are commanded to be perfect as our Father in Heaven is perfect.

Anyways, here's a song that I like. It speaks to me about those that seek to exploit the faithful.

"S.M.C." -- Project86

Big business ain’t easy
I’m sure you’d agree
Especially when the product is eternity-
To stay one step ahead we must achieve
And turn this holy temple
Into a factory
Is there anywhere you can run
To hide from these thieves? -
Cause eternity’s on sale today for a fee

Faith is buying me away
Buying me a way
To convert the masses into little servants
Faith is buying me away
Buying me a way
Buying me into your home (soul)

Our sanctuary of this high-rise
Our steeples our billboards
Our slogans our converts
Oh don’t forget to buy this T-shirt
As you leave
And open up the offering box
And give until it hurts
Show me an open heart and we’ll steal it away
Cause eternity’s on up for sale for a small fee today
You Know

This altar is a stage
Our sponsor must be paid
And maybe even make the front page

I think the thought Joe might be in the word "we". Setting the standard for ourselves is almost always unattainable but "His yoke is easy and His burdon is light."

That's just my thought anyway. I could be totally off. :)

"We" is the basis of all Christianity. We are Christ's Body, and we're here to help each other. Without each other, we could never be as holy as we could be. That is what the Communion of Saints is all about, one big family support group.

It means "we" raise the standard on "us" to make ourselfs seem more than we are, but we can never be that........
