My friend who is not a Christian is wondering "why God is mean", can anyone help me to answer her. She was refering to Psalm 18. I tried to tell her that he is not mean he is just. I don't think she believed me. Thanks. Pray for her her name is Kelly.

Instead of looking at God as mean, perhaps the attention should be turned to looking at God as the Great Deliverer.

David is expressing gratitude for God delivering him from his enemies.

God is a God of deliverance. He hears our prayers and then answers them accordingly.

She's in my prayers.

Dear dmfew,
I would like to remind you that David is a Jew. The Jews were and still are God's chosen people. When the Ammonites, Moabites, Amalekites, Hittites, Syrians, Edomites, and all the others, decided to go against God people, by their own accord, God needed to protect his people from the attacks by all these people. He did this so the Jews would be able to live and carry on his ministry. All of the previous civilizations weren't very civil. They practiced witchcraft, sacrificed humans, drank blood, burned their babies to death on the hands of Red-Hot Idols, They were sexually immoral and their ways where abhorrible. God is merciful, but when there is a cancer in the body, it must be removed. David's enemies wanted to destroy God's people. It was either them or the Jews.

Trying to explain God's sovereignty is hard thing to do. God destroys and builds up according to His will, and who are we to judge Him? Read Romans 9 and how the clay should not talk back to the potter - God - and say "why did you.....make me this way", or why anything. He says that He is love and that all things work together for good to those that love Him and are the called according to His purpose.(Rom.8:28)
Life is such a fantastic gift and trying to teach people about God is pretty tough when we need to learn and be taught by the Spirit of God and His truth everyday, ourselves. Pray for your friend and love him or her. Show them your unselfishness and service to other people. Let His light shine in you, and then you won't have to prove God. They will come to you if they see your good works towards the poor and needy around you. So many of us, today, use our mouth more than our deeds - me included, but the Lord is patient and ready to give us everythng we need to make a difference that witnesses to the world about His great Love for us and in us.

I JOHN 3:23 And this is his command: to believe in the name of his Son, Jesus Christ, and to LOVE one another as he commanded us

I JOHN 3:16 This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers. If anyone has material possessions and sees his brother in need but has no pity on him, how can the love of God be in him? Dear children let us not love in words or tongue but with ACTIONS and truth.
