View Full Version : How many times have you read the Bible.

When I read a Bible, I underline as I go. The first time I read the Bible, I did not underline near as much as I do now. It seems like now I want to underline everything. Anyways, because I still have all the Bibles I have read, I know I have read the entire Bible at least 5 times, most likely 6 or 7 times. One area I really like to study is the genologys. I don't know why people like to skip over that. But I have always liked working with numbers.

Of course, just reading the Bible will not do us much good without the Holy Spirit. Not only does the Holy Spirit help us to understand what we are reading, but also, the Holy Spirit is our helper, to help us to make the changes we need to make, to become the people God wants us to be. It would be impossible to do it on our own, apart from God. Thanks, JohnR7

I have never sat down and read the entire bible, cover to cover, but I have read every verse in the bible numerous times, and continue to do so.

Only 3 times in my whole life. ( only been a christian for 13 years)

I am one to skip over the geneology. I have tried to read it but it is long.

One of my favorite bibles is my grandmother's. It still has all of her markings in it. I like to look at the notes and the scriptures she highlighted.

God Bless,

I have never read the entire bible. I will make it my mission to do so though.

I have read the bible through twice...now going through a third time. I use a yearly bible reading plan. sometimes i'll read seperate books of the bible..for example in the last year I've been very much drawn to the book of Ephesians...That book has taught me so much.

read it once from beginning till end.
i didn't really pay much attention to the old testament, and started unlining when i got to the new testament (reading it more earnestly)
it was a pretty slow process.

I've read it 3 times using a yearly reading plan.

As far as underlining...or in my case, hilighting, I do it while I'm reading...but I also do it as a verse stands out to me in a devotional reading or when someone says something. Every time I read parts of the Bible, I find more and more I want to stand out in my own copy. So more and more gets hilighted.

It's better to skim through the geneologys. Every now and then God will sneak something really good in there, just to see if your awake or not.

I took an old testament class at the Bible school, and the instructor was going though all the Kings. It was getting a bit boring, so I got after him to show us how it all applied to us today. The class really picked up after that and got a lot more interesting. Thanks, JohnR7

Our pastor gets after us to read, study and meditate on that letter. He says that everything we need to know, to go to Heaven is there.

>>im on Ruth right now.

Ruth is really an awesome book, she really give Esther a run for her money. When it comes to shaddows and types we really learn a lot about the HS, because Ruth's mother in law is a type of the Holy Spirit. Also sense Ruth is a type of the Bride of Christ, we really learn a lot of the attitude we are to have.

Perhaps this is the most beautiful passage in the whole Bible:

Ruth 1:16
And Ruth said, Intreat me not to leave thee, or to return from following after thee: for whither thou goest, I will go; and where thou lodgest, I will lodge: thy people shall be my people, and thy God my God:

It is right up there with the attitude that Mary had:

Luke 1:37-38
For with God nothing shall be impossible. [38] And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her.

It does not sound as poetic, but it really is because with Mary, she know that God could do the impossible. She did not have any doubt or unbelief, just faith in the living God.

I married my wife, because she had faith and love. They are two very wonderful qualities of God to have. Thanks, JohnR7
