Just a curious question, do the MJs believe and operate by the gift of the Holy Spirit of God?

I would say this is a multi-faceted question...
It would be easier if you asked each individual what they believe; because many come from so vast a background..
Some folks are what I call ultra-charismatic (as in like TBN / the whole word of faith, 5 fold ministries.. yadda yadda)
Some folks believe the gifts were a one and only deal for one period of time, and will come again only during the tribulation and only for the 144,000....
Some are allegorists and make it into some obscure story -
And some, operate within the gifts that G-d has given them.
I think that "Charisma" has been so mangled by "christianese" that the true meanings of certain words and phraseologies have been hidden and changed from what the original intent was.
I have seen people healed whist sick when people laid hands on them and prayed for them, and I have heard people speak in different languages.
I don't discriminate against it, I test it.
*IF* I find it doesn't stand the test of scripture, I know where it is from..
That being said, I am more "Charismatic" in my worship than I was before (clapping hands, playing tamborine, dancing in praise team) - whereas before I was hard pressed to clap my hands or tap my foot in church (as many frown upon this)...

I grew up Charismatic Catholic more-or-less. I used to be one of those "everyone gets the Holy Spirit in the form of Tongues when they are baptized in the Spirit and can also pray for the 'better gifts' like prophesy" kind of charismatic for some years. Because that's what I was taught. I now don't believe the same things, but I consider myself an open charismatic person in the fact that I believe the gifts given by the Holy Spirit are still being used in the Body of Messiah today for G-d's purposes. I do not know what my spiritual gift or charism may be, if I have a specific one to develop... but I know I do not have the gift of tongues at this time. I only speak English and very bad Spanish I'm afraid! :D
I know it is the Spirit's decision "who gets what" so I leave that to Him! :)

The congregation I attend does believe the gifts of the Spirit are for today. However, I would place a very distinct line between us and what you see on television. Paul, in 1 Corinthians 14, tells the Corinthians that everything must be done decently and in order. So, we try to live up to what the Scriptures say & we think that some people have gotten out of control with the gifts issue. I've seen some things that really shocked me. In fact, I've heard of this classified as "charismania," rather than "charismatic".
So, I'd say we believe the gifts are for today...and they need to be administered decently and in order.
Yours truly in Christ.

Welcome Sojourner!! Good to see some new faces! Please feel free to fit in and add your plate to the table! Always good to see new faces.
I'm much the same as all the replies above. I am charasmatic in my worship, and I believe that the Gift of the Spirit have been since the begining of time. However, I do not agree/ believe in the gift of speaking in tongues as explained and practiced by mainstream charasmatic churchs/ groups.
Just my 2 cents.

I will pray for you if you are sick, and if ABBA gives me a word for you, I will pass it on(assuming He has already spoken to you Himself) and should I be praying and some unknown tongue seems the right thing to do at the time I will pray that way too(under my breath) ...and if ABBA anoints me to speak out loud in English or otherwise I will...And should I see any evil I will not allow it to manifest in my home or presence I will cast it out(surprizing this has always worked just like Yeshua says, it's not as scary as it seems) . I have recieved many miracles and believe in them ...Some of my dreams are from Him(not just from the PizzaI ate) and are for my life and to help explain the times we live in, and I take them to heart.....I guess you could say I am charismatic!
I also believe that the more you know about ABBA's word the more Faith you can have that the gifts were, are and will be... as when you see how incredible our ABBA is through His word, you cant help but believe that...
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of God.....If there is one thing I know that was missing before(and I still was moving in the gifts back then) is that I didnt have as much faith, as I was not as grounded in His word back then.....I had alot of Hope things would be ok but I wasnt exactly sure of anything ....now when I know it, believe it, I dont have any doubts...I have to say that's thanks to my strong foundation in His Word over the past 10 years (and I have been saved almost 30 years, so the first 20 were not as strong faith wise and gifts wise)

I was raised up in a pentecostal church, and i have many close relatives that are pastors of their own churches, women too, so my answer is yes, of course.
The tongues's thing, well... i don't know, i think i've seen this, but i'm not positive, because they were mostly spanish speakers and i never was taught it, so i think it was just folks crying in spanish. I think that if you are speaking it or hearing it, you will never know, only others around you that observe you can tell you if you have that gift and are exerciseing it.
heh, i've been studying the bible for over a year now and they don't even know i'm doing it or that i'm messianic. Someday i will let them know.

Yes I'm charismatic, but not to the extreme. I have the gift of tongues for example but I usually pray in tongues in my secret closet at home.
I go to a Pentecostal church (not because I label myself as Pentecostal but because G-d has called me to that specific church to serve Him). I definitively believe that the gifts of the Holy Spirit are still for today and have been in existence and necessary for the last 2000 years. :)
