Ari is 8 1/2 months old now and still growing like a weed. He took his first solo steps last Shabbat just before the start of services.

If you look closely you can see his first two teeth. I'm looking forward to finding out his "offical" weight and height in a few weeks at his 9 month doctor appointment. I know he is over 20 lbs already, just not sure how far over 20 he is. :)

Good thing I had already swallowed my coffee when I read that or I would have had to clean off my screen..... LOL!

Look at all that beautiful red hair! He looks great Wags and wow, already 8 1/2 months old. So, is the red hair from you or your husband? It is a wonderful color:)

My son Michael started walking at 9 months. It's funny, it's like some babies just have to get going. My daughter Elisabeth on the other hand was the little princess - she did not start walking until she was 13 months, why walk when you have everyone at your beck and call;)

My daughter was a stawberry blonde at birth, but the red has now vanished and she is just blonde. She started walking at 7 1/2 months and started RUNNING 6 weeks later - hasn't slowed down since.

Dh's hair is dark, but his beard has red in it. Apparently reddish/blonde hair is common in the shettel his family came from in Russia. I have the passport picture of his grandfather from when he came to the US in the early 1900's and his wedding picture from the 20's. He looks very Jewish, except for the strawberry blonde hair and blue eyes. :D

May he always have G-dly bravery and courage and may he have a joyful spirit as befits one who carries the name of the shield of Judah.... Ari, a "lion's whelp"

On the topic - here's some interesting study on the Tribes in scripture - it is an informative and lengthy study! http://www.betemunah.org/tribes.html

Judah's was a carbuncle and the color of his flag was something like the heavens; embroidered on it was a lion.

He's soooooo cute! Is he gonna catch up to his sister soon? That happened with my two they both were the same size from the time she was 1 1/2 and he was 3 till they were 5 and 7, everyone thought they were twins ...now the younger is about 1/2 a foot taller than the older:sigh:...but thats ok he's a gymnast and is sooooooo good BECAUSE he is little:clap:

I remember when you were pregnant and we were praying for your delivery... Are there anymore cubs on their way?

Trishi - no more (G-d willing) I'm over 40 and two high risk pregnancies are enough for this old lady. Children may be blessing from G-d, but they are definately for the young who can keep up with them and aren't as affected by lack of sleep! :)

Henaynei - thanks for the link!

And for those of you that think sticking a finger in the lions mouth is brave.... you should have heard me yelp at 3am this morning....and it wasn't becuase he took a bite out of my FINGER! :D

hmmmm - time for weaning or beginning to teach self control ;)

We started the "no biting mommy!" lessons..... I nursed his sister until she was 18 months and then weaned her because he was due in a month. But she didn't stay weaned...so she nursed until a little after two years (tandem nursing turned out to be easier than I thought it would be) . The World Health Organization recommends nursing until 2-3 years of age and the latest studies show that there are benefits to extended nursing. Ari will get to nurse until he self weans. I figure that is what the Holy One created my body to do - provide nourishment to my children, so that is what I plan to do, no matter how difficult it might be on occasion.

 Yeh...never thought of that! Boy, talk about biting the hand that feeds you!

Well, good luck for the future 'don't bite mommy' lessons LOL. I sure hope he's a fast learner.

Hey Wags, never say never. Mom is 44 (I think) and shes got one on the way, and if the rumors are right, shes planning on another! hehe...more converts to my mischeivious ways  . LOL

God bless and Shabbat Shalom to you and yours,

Matt James

Forutnately for your mum she is blessed to have you and your other siblings around to help out. I'm sure that you will gladly accept the oppotunity to learn all about the joys of caring for a baby (if you don't already know them. ) so that you will be a good father some day.

Even if I wanted another, medically it would not be a wise decision - I know that with G-d all things are possible, but scripture also says not to put the L-rd your G-d to the test.

Ari is 9 months old today. He is now walking/running, clapping his hands and cheering (amazing what babies can pick up during the first sunday of the NFL season:)) . He is just so full of life and such a beautiful gift from Adonai.
