If you want to quote only 1 post, press http://www3.christianforums.com/images/buttons/button_reply.gif (http://www.christianforums.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=26548869) and write your reply in the Quick Reply box, and that 1 post will be quoted.

If you want to quote more than 1 post, click on this: http://www3.christianforums.com/images/buttons/multiquote_off.gif (http://www.christianforums.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=26538419) in a post you want to quote and it will turn to this: http://www3.christianforums.com/images/buttons/multiquote_on.gif (http://www.christianforums.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=26538419) -> you can do this FOR ANY POST, even in a DIFFERENT THREAD OR FORUM - go to ANOTHER THREAD and FORUM and do the same. When you press this: http://www3.christianforums.com/images/buttons/reply.jpg (http://www.christianforums.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&noquote=1&p=26537548) ALL your quotes FROM DIFFERENT THREADS AND FORUMS will be quoted!

The numbers are only there while composing your post. When you submit it, it turns into a little arrow. If someone clicks on that arrow, it will take them directly to the post you are quoting.

You can easily quote multiple posts in the one reply by clicking on the multiquote button of a post you want to quote:

I don't know if anyone saw a thread about this in the Questions forum, but the multiple quotes are pesistant and fallow you across threads and forums. Below is one I quoted from the Staff Praise forum. (and snipped some)

The "quote" button also turns green after you click on it.

If Erwin is reading this, I'm not to sure this is an improvement over the regular quote function, plus the mutli-quote function. I'll need to experiment before I make a decision.

I liked the option of being able to quote someone right from their post rather than having to go up and hit "Post Reply" even when I am not quoting multiple posts. I think that translates to me preferring how it was when "quote" and """ were two separate buttons. :)

Still, either way, neat feature.

I'm not seeing the multi-quote buttons today.Where'd they go?
I also could not get the quote button to work on my last post.

Okay, I clicked two and only the last one clicked showed up.

Plus, the only way that I could see the quoted post was to click reply and then go to advanced.

Frankly I liked it the way it was earlier this week. This feature seems to be buggy.
When I click only one poster, I get no response whatsover. At first I thought the system crashed.
When I click two quotes then I get one quote in the response, but only the most recent.

MariaRegina
7th September 2006, 04:47 PM
What happened to the next poster's post?

It seemed to disappear, yet I did not notice any obvious rule infractions.

Are we having more system errors?

This bumps you down to the "quick reply" box at the bottom of the page - which WILL be empty

click on "Go Advanced" and you will go to the advanced edit box and the quoted posts will be displayed

There has been some mention of canons of the Church regarding iconography. Could someone post those, or at least a link?

comments.....

I visited a Catholic Church / Center of Conferences and in their Shop there was plenty of EO icons....

So I would say that since icons are not a Sacrament, we can use Catholic icons provided that the saint there is recognised by the EO Church plus all other necessary elements to make the work an ICON.

Other opinions ?

Or Metropolitan Chrysostomos, who was ordered to hand over a list of all the Jews he knew of so that they could be given to the Nazis. He refused. The demands got stronger. He finally wrote something down on a piece of paper, threw it at the guy, and screamed, "Here's your Jew!" On the paper was his own name.

(there's a display about this story right in the Holocaust museum in DC, or at least there was in 2002.)

All I did was quote myself and then clicked on the link at the bottom of the reply window (and snipped it again).

Neat!

Hmm . The quote button seems to have disappeared altogether...just to be left by the multi-quote. Is this the new version? The "quote" button also turns green after you click on it.

If Erwin is reading this, I'm not to sure this is an improvement over the regular quote function, plus the mutli-quote function. I'll need to experiment before I make a decision.

Interesting... they should follow you...

mmm...This is interesting.I didn't want to quote all these people.:doh:I only hit Erwin's quote button.

You probably collected them from somewhere. :)

The system REMEMBERS all the activated quote buttons from the site.

Maybe you quoted those people and they got transferred to my post.

Is there a way to quote a single post without having to scroll all the way to the bottom of the page to hit "submit" or whatever it is? That's the big hangup in the new system, imho.

Hit the http://www3.christianforums.com/images/buttons/multiquote_off.gif (http://www.christianforums.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=26548983) to turn it green. Then either hit the
http://www3.christianforums.com/images/buttons/button_reply.gif (http://www.christianforums.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=26548983),

or the

http://www3.christianforums.com/images/buttons/reply.jpg (http://www.christianforums.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=26548983)
within that post, you should be able to quote that particular post.

BTW, thanks Erwin for putting the http://www3.christianforums.com/images/buttons/reply.jpg (http://www.christianforums.com/newreply.php?do=newreply&p=26548983) button within the post. :)

This sounds great, I have been wondering what it was for. I used to have to keep opening threads in different windows before.

Thanks Erwin.

Captain, can you make new buttons so that the current REPLY button says QUICK QUOTE, the current QUOTE + and QUOTE - buttons say MULTI QUOTE+ and MULTI QUOTE - and the current small POST REPLY button go onto the regular purple button to say POST QUOTES?

Much appreciated if that is possible!

when I write a post in which I quote a post in a forum and then leave that forum to post elsewhere.... and then return later to the first forum where I quoted a post.... and quote another post, BOTH quotes show up in the "post reply" edit box.... shouldn't the first "clipboard" clear when I have used it?

and , yes, it sometimes seems to pick up quotes in a thread that I didn't knowingly select...

Weird - not sure why this would be.
