Hi Guys
I am 2 months old in Christ...and am having struggles with many things. I am pushin through though as I don't want to lose my salvation :)
Anyway...the question I have is : How do I know if it's the Holy Spirit telling me to do something?
How do I know if he's prompting me?
Is it a thought I have? Because I had many thoughts similar to the thoughts I'm having now before I was saved.
How do I hear from God? Am I complicating things?
Please guys...any and all help would be most appreciated.
GOD BLESS!!

The pastor at my church preached on this very thing yesterday. He had some good points. This is my hmble advice to you. When you pray, go alone somewhere. Talk with God. Do not get up when you are finished. Earnestly seek Him and wait until He says what He needs to say to you before you get up. God will speak directly to you if you allow Him to. There are many people that never think about this. They pray, then get up and go about their day. Spend as much time, if not more time, listening for God as you do talking to Him. You might be surprised at what HE will tell you. Have a happy Jesus day!!

Hi Gregory
Thanks for your post. I will try that. I just want to ask...how do I know if it's God speaking to me?
What would you describe as his voice?
Thoughts that come into my mind or what? that is the part i'm really struggling with.
Thanks again and god Bless!! :)

the Bible describes God speaking directly to a select view as face to face... others in a still small voice. If you read I Samuel Chapter 3, you will see another example of one hearing God's voice. Get a good concordance or find a good online resource for searching our scripture and read about it in God's Word. I hope you find the God will speak to you.

I posted this months ago, but it's worth copying again here for you. If you'll take the time to learn this, it will be key to your growing up in the Spirit, rather than trying to figure it out in your own soul. Regards,

Spirit, Soul, Body
This is the most important question for saints to understand. This is most critical to walking with God.
God declares, from one cover of the bible to the other, that the walk with Him must be in the Holy Spirit, according to heaven, not man's mind (soul).
To understand this well, we need to go back to the Garden. God told Adam that if he ate of the "Tree of the knowledge of good and evil", he would die that very day. Yet, Adam lived like another 700 years, right? So then, what died?
Answer: Their spirit
Speed ahead, and we see that Jesus remedies the death of man by His work of the Cross, and teaches also, that "man must be born again", or born anew. The spirit made alive by the Holy Spirit.
Let's go back a minute, again. When Adam (and Eve) died spiritually, their souls reigned supreme in its stead. That is, heaven was closed, the flaming sword guarded the way of the tree of life, and all men henceforth were bound up in their souls (heart, mind, will, emotions).
God shows us, time and again, that man's way is not His way, and man's best, is not good enough. It must be God's way in every detail. No room for compromise.
Proverb 3:5 Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And do not lean on your own understanding.
Proverb 14:12 There is a way which seems right to a man, But its end is the way of death.
(seems right in his soul.... but no can do!)
The ark of the tabernacle is a model, or type, of Jesus. Meaning, that God showed Moses every detail for God's plan of the tabernacle. There was not a single facet of it left to Moses', Aaron, or any artisan's imaginations, as to how it was to be contructed. It had to be exact!
Totally of heaven, not of earth, or man.
God also tells us, NO MIXTURE! Walking in God is not a combination or partnership of the Spirit and Man's soul. You cannot put new wine into old wineskins. Likewise, according to the LAW (which completely illustrates the Christ), "No intermarrying", and "Do not allow the donkey and the calf to plough together", and other such illustrations - 100% purely heaven. No mixing with man's soul.
Jesus is the image of the Father, and we enter in by faith in His Son, not by any other means.
What this is getting at, is that Christians still have their soul (sinful nature) even upon getting born again. We have 2 natures. The Holy Spirit (in our spirit), and our soul/flesh still attempting to have control, be in-charge, and make its own way. Our souls are always fighting to have the throne.
To please God now, we must NOT master ourselves, i.e. gain control over our souls, prop them up, be stronger, etc. No! The soul must be CRUCIFIED! The whole New Testament is a declaration that the self (soul) must take up the cross, die, so that God's power can be manifested.
God's strength is made perfect through man's weakness!
The whole problem of sin has already been dealt with by God's Son on the cross. Sin, really is not the issue anymore. It is Self. Self must die, be crucified, so that the Holy Spirit can be enlarged in you.

That was an awesome post...and thanks for it. i just have one gripe though (not toward you but with regard to all posts)...they are always wise words, but it would be nice f someone could give a practical example or the like.
I struggle with application of the principles, because the principle itself does not explain how to achieve the desired result.
I think it is due to my own fault that this is happening...but still if you could help me out with that I'll really appreciate it.
Thanks and God Bless.

Hi Be Led,
You and everyone else struggles with terrible thoughts.
Being a new born-again Christian, the enemy will do anything to stop you from being who you are.
If your thoughts are on things of your past, then it's best to deal with them.
You are a novice and the road is long and hard. So you don't need it to be confused with all the mumbo-jumbo of Christianity.
But, I would like to ask you, if you prayed the "Prayer of Salvation".
Many new Christians struggle, and many do not prayer the true Prayer of Salvation. I am asking you to pray this prayer that is posted below:
Heavenly Father, I come to You through our Lord Jesus Christ. I thank You for sending Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ.
Your Word says that if I believe in my heart and confess with my mouth that our Lord Jesus Christ is Your Son. That HE was born of the Virgin Mary. That HE walked the earth. That HE was crucified on a cross. That HE died in order to cleanse me from all sin and to reconcile me to You, our Heavenly Father. I do believe this and confess this now, in Jesus’ Name.
I believe that You raised our Lord Jesus Christ from the dead on the third day, and HE is now seated at Your right hand in the heavenlies. I believe that through HIS precious blood, HE brought me back from the kingdom of darkness and bondage of Satan. I believe HE paid the total penalty for all of the sins I have ever committed and that through HIS blood I am cleansed, redeemed, and sanctified, that is set apart to YOU, and Justified, that is, just as if I had never sinned.
Heavenly Father, please forgive me for the sins in my life, and I now renounce all of my sins, known and unknown. I absolutely turn from them. I turn to You, Lord Jesus Christ, and I turn away from the power of darkness, to the power of Light, from the power of Satan to the power of God.
I ask You, Lord Jesus Christ, to come into my life, fill me with Your Holy Spirit, and cause me to forgive and love people in the same way that you forgive and love me. Please come and live in my heart. Change my heart, Heavenly Father, and help me to change the way that I live and think about You.
I surrender absolutely to You, and I confess, and receive our Lord Jesus Christ as my King, my Lord, my Saviour, and my Master of my life.
Thank You, Heavenly Father, for saving me from myself and from Satan. I am now born again, Your child, and a member of Your family.
Satan, in Jesus’ Name, I renounce you, and every avenue you have had into my life. You will never control me again. Our Lord Jesus Christ is my Lord, and I serve HIM with all my heart, mind and soul, in Jesus’ Name. AMEN

The principle and desired result can only come from God. No book on earth or anyone else can get you there, only God. Pray, pray, pray. Wait on God. Always remember, no one can control God.

Apart from the encouraging replies that you have recieved so far i would like you to consider the new-birth experience with that of a new-born babe.
Will a Mother reject or neglect her two-month old baby? No.
In the same way, God will not reject or neglect us.
God's Love is more than a Mother's Love for her child according to the verse below -
Isaiah 49:15 - Can a woman forget her sucking child, that she should not have compassion on the son of her womb? yea, they may forget, yet will I not forget thee.
Remind yourself the encouraging verse below -
Philippians 1:6 - Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Once we are born-again into Christ as a new person, we need to grow into the fulness of the stature of Christ by working out our salvation with fear and trembling.
And just like Parents who know that each one of their children are different individuals and allow their children to grow in their own pace, God allows us to grow in our pace too.
Be encouraged and assured of this truth.
The Lord Bless you.

I found something that may help you. Study your bible about hearing the voice of God, then read the following verses in whatever translation you use...
Deuteronomy 10:17; Acts 10:34; II Chronicles 19:7; Romans 2:11; Galatians 2:6; Ehpesians 6:9; Job 34:19; Colossians 3:25; I Peter 1:17. This should let you know that God does for you what He will do for these...
