Do you practice feetwashing as Jesus commanded?
I have washed feet, but I don't think it is a commandment. I think it's an example of humbling ourselves and serving others.

I have washed feet, but I don't think it is a commandment. I think it's an example of humbling ourselves and serving others. He did command us to do it. John13:14-15~If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet. For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
Does showering count? Do you shower others?

I believe that He meant by that: as I serve y'all, you should y'all should serve each other. Back then, people really needed thier feet washed. They wore sandels (or went barefoot), and walked all over the place (in the dirt). Nowadays, many of us bathe regularly, and often wear socks and shoes.
Do you shower others?
I'm not going to say I've not thought about it.

Yes, it is a way to humble ourselves, just as taking communion is a way to remember His sacrifice.
Lol!! ^_^ ^_^

He said He has given us an example of he that is sent isn't greater than he that sent him. An example of ministry.
John 13:13 Ye call me Master and Lord: and ye say well; for so I am.
John 13:14 If I then, your Lord and Master, have washed your feet; ye also ought to wash one another's feet.
John 13:15 For I have given you an example, that ye should do as I have done to you.
John 13:16 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord; neither he that is sent greater than he that sent him.
It can be incorporated into the following passage,
Matthew 22:36 Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Matthew 22:37 Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
Matthew 22:38 This is the first and great commandment.
Matthew 22:39 And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
Matthew 22:40 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
but Jesus said on 2 Commandments hang all the law (the other 611 commandments, of which feet washing isn't mentioned)

I changed the question. I just wanted to know if anyone else practiced it, not an argument over whether or not we have to do it.

I'm quite literalistic when it comes to bible interpretation, but I don't see this as a command to wash feet, but to serve our brothers and sisters in Christ. My husband's church does a yearly foot-washing thing and I've taken part. I don't wear sandals or live in the desert so there really isn't a need for it, just do it for nostalgia. Be careful it doesn't cause you fall into legalism.

I don't see it as something we are commanded to do. Jesus used foot washing as a demonstration of servanthood. Then in turn told us that we ought to do the same for each other.
When it comes to communion, Jesus showed us how to do communion. Then he told us to do it in remembrance.
That said, I have in th epast year instigated foot washing twice in the past year. The first time was with K-grade 5 children to teach them about Bible times and why they did certain things. The second time was with teenagers to demonstrate being a servant. This was a tough lesson for me because when I was a child my grandfather scared me away from washing feet of other people. Which actually strengthened the impact it had on the teens.

It would be an interesting exercise but I don't think it's a command.
However, I bathe my kids all the time...does that count?

serving others is a humbling experience. whether you're washing feet or doing other things to serve those around you. there are not many who are willing to serve either.

I pastor a small church and we do footwashing every time we have communion. Some people think it is not necessary because Jesus didn't command it to be done, but these are the words he used: Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another's feet. I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you. John 13:14-15
It certainly implies that we are to continue doing it for each other. They certainly weren't going to stand around that night washing each other's feet, since their feet had already been cleaned by Christ. The words, "should wash each other's feet" must mean that they were supposed to do it in the future.
