How much power do Demons and Satan have?

I'm asking a serious question, and wish that this be posed as a serious question.... How much power does Satan and the Demons have in this world...

What kind of power do they have over true Christians? I understand that God is in control of every one of them, but can Demonic beings whisper thoughts into us? I don't think they can read our minds, but can they transpose their thoughts into our heads? How much control does Satan have? Can the Demons and Satan control and influence non-christians without possessing them?

you are asking a serious question, and I am answering from my experience and belief, all the power I've seen of the devil is death and evil

Thankfully the bible reassures us if we continue with Christ, He has more power. He has power to raise from the dead too.

If and when we are out of God's will, then we are following either selfishness or the devil. Repentance and seeking God is the answer to that :)

It seems to me that Satan and the demons only have power insofar as God grants it to them. You're probably familiar with the passage in the books of the Kings which describes the Lord standing against Israel, and the corresponding passage in the books of the Chronicles which identifies Satan as standing against Israel. 2 Corinthians also records Paul as being opposed by a messenger of Satan, whom the Lord refused to remove from the Apostle's presence (saying that his grace was sufficient for Paul). For these reasons, I would think that demons are only permitted to torment humans when God wills it.

Only as much as God allows - Satan functions only at God's inclination.

The same Satan who tempted Jesus the Christ will tempt man (both regenerate and unregenerate), but only succeed to the degree that God sees fit.
