What does that mean to you?

How do you understand the idea of non-resistence to evil?

ROMANS
19Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.
20 Therefore if thine enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink: for in so doing thou shalt heap coals of fire on his head.
21 Be not overcome of evil, but overcome evil with good.

Great verses!

How do you live that out in your daily life?

It would be much easier to tell how I don't live it out in my daily life. I seem to recall the times when I fail at being non-resistant better than the times when I do well at it.

I just thought of one. How about when I go back and retype the response I have to a certain someones post so as not to offend ;)

That's one good way. I bet we've all had to do that now and then.

I've had many opportunities in a factory setting to "get back" at others that did me wrong. I sat in a very high position of authority, literally holding people's futures in my hands. Opportunities to avenge became opportunities to show mercy and humility. Many a person got called into my office expecting the worse and came out smiling and joyful.

Being a big guy that I am I don't get harassed on the street so those type of opportunities don't present themselves, and the UN soldiers (they work for the antichrist ya know;)) haven't dropped in from helicopters to take over the city and persecute us Christians, so I don't have any real drama to speak of.

I've supported MCC, MDS, Pregnancy Ministries, Rescue Shelters, Voice of the Martyrs--all in the name of Peace instead of violence.

Great example!

There was an article/editorial in the paper by a lady that has a group once a month standing at the square having a silent witness against the war. She told about the vile things people shout at them as they drive by.

I bet that's true. Peace is now considered a ridulously impractical pipe dream. In this world where people are willing to trade freedom for "peace", few will find either. That causes a lot of internal conflict and often that conflict expresses itself in violence, verbal and physical. Ironic, isn't it?

I'm thinking of standing with them next month when they gather...

I wonder what lambslove would say--I bet she'd say do it if I was feeling led:sigh:

I've never been to a peace demonstration. You'll have to let me know what it's like.

This reminds me of a quote from Mother Teresa...

“I was once asked why I don't participate in anti-war demonstrations. I said that I will never do that, but as soon as you have a pro-peace rally, I'll be there.”

Sounds like her.

I was reading about a mennonite dr that was over in India and got to know her. There was a pic of a "get well" card she sent to him.

She was quite a lady.

I watched a movie about her recently and was very moved. She was a woman who put Christ words into action.

The ones in the UK tend to get rather rowdy as it is ALL groups who protest. We seem to specialise in unpeaceful peace protests....:sorry:

This would be the reason for my hesitation to join a pro-peace rally. It is far to easy for one to go from pro-peace to anti-war. I see the issues quite differently.

Ditto. They're not good places to be. :sigh:
